Why and what changed

Adds the complete dedicated B200 SGLang 0.5.17 FP8 FlashInfer MoE sweep for AIC-1781: 3,159 measurements (117 shapes × 27 token counts) for the Qwen3.8-Max deployment-pinned sglang_flashinfer_trtllm_moe lane.

The diff against current main is exactly three files: the system's moe_perf.parquet, its collection_meta.yaml, and one observed FP8 source/backend entry in collector/op_backend_facts.yaml. No executable code, collector behavior, or golden is changed. Prerequisite #326 is merged; this branch includes it via main.

Review map and compatibility

Risk: high, because measured data and selection eligibility are product behavior. Start with python/aisimulate/src/aisimulate_core/systems/data/b200_sxm/moe/sglang/0.5.17/, then the single matching registry line. Current-head machine-readable audit and runnable native consumer evidence cover all shapes, keys, units, hashes, anomalies, and binary data that the bot cannot review.

The optional Boolean default_eligible is true on all 9,153 existing rows and false only on the 3,159 new FP8 FlashInfer rows. All 324 TP32 points remain available through explicit kernel-source selection. Existing Triton and NVFP4 defaults are unchanged; automatic selection must not gain TP32 FlashInfer coverage. The collection sidecar remains schema v2, and the curated source-to-backend mapping is unchanged.

Keep the eligibility-aware reader while these opt-in rows are installed. A reader rollback must restore the pre-PR Parquet, sidecar, and system-specific registry entry together; merely dropping the eligibility column is unsafe with old readers.

Current-head evidence

  • Tested data head: 346496aec586dc07c49ff70b010f153ea1d60cc9; comparison main: a2b04a59a277aa8ef4687ef451cc46f4c848fa50.
  • Fresh locked native build from code a2b04a59a277aa8ef4687ef451cc46f4c848fa50 (merged fix: isolate opt-in MoE measurements from automatic selection #326), engine schema 21. Later main advances in this sequence contain measured data only; the executable code is identical.
  • All 12,312 rows are retained. The 9,153 pre-existing rows keep their schema, values, and order. Parquet and collection sidecar remain byte-for-byte identical to the previously reviewed data PR head d4f6f013220c829869887eb01aa4437f9a60b860. No measurement was removed, rescaled, recollected, or replaced.
  • Exactly 117 × 27 new points, including 324 TP32 points; no duplicate measurement keys, null cells, nonfinite latency, or nonpositive latency. Latency units are milliseconds.
  • Real-native validation: 56,862 automatic outcomes match the comparison-main baseline across SILICON/EMPIRICAL/HYBRID with shared data enabled and disabled; 24,624 exact-source latency checks match stored measurements. Default views and coverage match. Unset/Triton SILICON rejects all 324 TP32 points; exact FlashInfer succeeds. EMPIRICAL/HYBRID retain their baseline behavior.
  • Full-tree collector R1–R7 and the complete 2,153-slice backend-facts registry pass. Focused backend-facts, collection-metadata-schema, and provenance tests: 77 passed.
  • Independent Codex Standards, Spec, and fresh whole-branch final reviews of this exact head completed with 0 findings on each axis, including independent native/data-check reruns. CodeRabbit genuinely reviewed this same head with no actionable findings, minimal merge risk, and all eight pre-merge checks passing.
  • Fast CI and normally admitted Full CI passed on this exact head (47 successful Full CI jobs; five declared scope/publishing skips). The trusted-copy SHA matches. Hosted prediction comparison covers 170,765 rows across 29 configurations with no differences. The advisory performance run also passed.

The audit link contains exact runnable commands and the native harness. Original production Slurm/OCI collection, pinned image, collector closure, case plan, and zero-error evidence remain in the earlier collection and annotation audit and unchanged sidecar. The refresh checks are loader/selection and prediction-regression validation, not new GPU benchmarks or a predictive-accuracy claim.

Tracking and landing

Related: AIC-1781, association approved by the user. Closes: none; the original issue has broader collection scope.

Landing order: merged code #326, then B200 #296, GB300 #298, and GB200 #301. Each data PR is refreshed and validated against the preceding main before squash merging. Required human CODEOWNER/domain approval, resolved conversations, and exact-head Fast/Full CI remain independent merge gates.

Linked repositories findings

ai-dynamo/dynamo

  • Qwen3.8 SGLang GB200/GB300 recipes explicitly select flashinfer_trtllm for both regular and speculative MoE execution, matching the new measurement lane. [::ai-dynamo/dynamo::]

ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator

  • The SGLang collector maps flashinfer_trtllm to the exact kernel_source sglang_flashinfer_trtllm_moe (collector/sglang/collect_moe.py:598-603, 1162-1168). [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::]
  • The curated backend mapping identifies that source as flashinfer_trtllm_gen, and the reuse manifest treats it as a distinct shared MoE source across B200/GB300/GB200 systems (collector/kernel_source_backends.yaml:75-80, perf_data_reuse_manifest.yaml:1349-1358). [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::]
  • The Rust loader filters rows by exact kernel_source before inserting them into the default performance index (aic-core/rust/aiconfigurator-core/src/perf_database/moe.rs:420-476). The new rows’ source label therefore must remain exact; the PR’s stated label is compatible.
  • No default_eligible handling was found in the focused Aiconfigurator search; its lookup path relies on per-source filtering rather than this metadata. [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::]

📝 Summary

Risk: Moderate. The three areas for human attention are the default_eligible selection contract, the backend facts for fp8_block MoE, and the provenance and completeness of the added measurements.

Changes

  • Adds 3,159 measurements for the B200 SGLang 0.5.17 flashinfer_trtllm_gen / fp8_block lane. The metadata records 12,312 rows across three collection events.
  • Marks the new FlashInfer fp8_block rows default_eligible: false, so callers must select them explicitly. The existing 9,153 rows remain default-eligible.
  • Adds flashinfer_trtllm_gen and its kernel source to the SGLang fp8_block MoE backend facts, alongside the existing Triton backend and source.

Evidence and remaining gaps

The author reports that Slurm job 2002325 collected all 3,159 cases with no collector errors, and that the resulting table has 12,312 unique non-latency keys. The author also reports validating the appended rows against the raw artifact and sidecar metadata, and passing targeted Rust tests, data checks, formatting checks, and broader test suites. These are reported results, not independently verified here.

CodeRabbit reported no newly introduced incorrect behavior in the evidence it checked. That report is not an approval. Exact-head CI and human approvals remain separate merge gates. Historical raw Slurm artifacts and remote image digests were not revalidated. Review severity counts are unavailable from the supplied findings.

Walkthrough

The SGLang 0.5.17 B200 MoE metadata now includes a FlashInfer TRT-LLM backend fact and a completed 3,159-row collection event. Collection totals and eligibility notes reflect the added rows.

Forward moe_kernel_source in Rust KV-capacity requests.

When KvCacheEstimateRequest.engine.moe_kernel_source is set, estimate_kwargs omits it. Python therefore receives the default source instead of the requested source. This also bypasses Python’s source validation for capacity requests. Forward the field and test a request with Some(...); the new fixture uses only None. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Linked repositories findings

ai-dynamo/dynamo

  • Dynamo’s AIC KV-capacity wrapper has no moe_kernel_source parameter and does not forward one to estimate_num_gpu_blocks. [::ai-dynamo/dynamo::] lib/bindings/python/src/dynamo/_internal/aic.py:390-490
  • The Rust AIC bridge likewise omits the field from its function signature and Python kwargs. [::ai-dynamo/dynamo::] lib/bindings/python/rust/llm/aic_callback.rs:317-378
  • Replay/AIC configuration surfaces have no kernel-source field in MockEngineArgs or AicPerfConfig. [::ai-dynamo/dynamo::] lib/bindings/python/rust/llm/replay.rs:276-310; lib/bindings/python/rust/llm/entrypoint.rs:146-180
  • Dynamo pins aisimulate and aisimulate-core to 0.12.0; the new schema/API must be released and the pin updated for Dynamo to consume it. [::ai-dynamo/dynamo::] pyproject.toml:17; Cargo.toml:59-62

ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator

  • The frozen compatibility reference remains at ENGINE_SPEC_SCHEMA_VERSION = 15, with strict schema rejection and wheel/crate lockstep requirements. [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::] aic-core/rust/aiconfigurator-core/src/config.rs:18-72; aic-core/API.md:233-248
  • Its legacy compile_engine, memory-estimation APIs, and PyMoE constructor do not expose moe_kernel_source. This is consistent with the repository’s stated maintenance-only/frozen status, but confirms the new field belongs to the AISimulate migration surface rather than this legacy API. [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::] aic-core/src/aiconfigurator_core/sdk/engine.py:358-407; aic-core/src/aiconfigurator_core/sdk/memory.py:932-1090; aic-core/rust/aiconfigurator-core/src/py_ops.rs:1677-1734

The concern is refuted. ENGINE_MODEL_CONTROL_FIELDS includes moe_kernel_source, and _validate_engine_controls evaluates every field in that tuple when deriving active. A configured source therefore cannot bypass the checks that depend on active.

validate_moe_controls rejects the MegaMoE combination. The shared large-EP builder rejects the source before it emits MoEAllToAll or MoEExpertCompute. All listed DeepSeek large-EP branches use that builder, so the selector cannot be silently ignored.

Resolve stale selector conflicts using the finalized implementation from main after PR #282. Preserve the original B200 Parquet data and provenance byte-for-byte, leaving only the dedicated data changes relative to main.

Resolved the merge conflicts in 4190a81 by merging current main (992dddc). No force-push. The finalized selector/FPM/schema/test changes from #282 are preserved, and the net PR diff is now exactly the two B200 data/provenance files. Both files are byte-for-byte unchanged from the original data PR.

Validation on the resulting tree:

  • Fresh locked Python/native build; 493 focused tests and 386 engine parity tests passed, without refreshing goldens.
  • All seven collector-data checks, Ruff checks/formatting, Cargo formatting, and whitespace checks passed.
  • Real Rust consumer audit with SILICON, strict provenance, and shared-layer fallback disabled: all 12,312 explicit-lane measurements match exactly (maximum error 0.0 ms), including all 3,159 new FP8 FlashInfer rows. All 9,153 existing default queries remain unchanged, and three unsupported-lane/quantization probes fail closed.
  • Independent task and whole-branch reviews found no unresolved or deferred findings. The committed tree is the reviewed tree f0f89fd2036c70b679fe92312664fde0b05382df.

This is conflict-resolution and consumer validation of the existing data, not new GPU collection; historical raw Slurm artifacts and remote image digests were not revalidated. Exact-head hosted CI and required human approvals remain separate merge gates. The PR has not been merged.

Discard null MoE source aliases before duplicate detection so optional selectors behave like omission in AFD companions and replay. Preserve non-null values, explicit-source rejection, and other timing-field validation. Add public-consumer regression coverage with synthetic timings and recording-runtime transport checks.

Please review the current head 3353c05 against the current code-prerequisite base 3acfa10. This is a dedicated two-file data PR; its previous green CodeRabbit status reported a skipped review because of the non-default base. The prerequisite code is reviewed separately in #326. Please verify the data and eligibility metadata at this exact head.

Linked repositories findings

ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator

  • The closest frozen B200 SGLang MoE metadata uses schema_version: 1, runtime framework/version, and table-level status: complete; the 0.5.14 sidecar documents appended collections and zero failures. [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::] aic-core/src/aiconfigurator_core/systems/data/b200_sxm/moe/sglang/0.5.14/collection_meta.yaml:4-38
  • Collector validation requires every parquet table to be covered by collection_meta.yaml; collection-history entries additionally require status and a non-empty case_plan_hash. [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::] tools/perf_database/check_collector_data.py:157-176,320-369
  • The frozen backend registry maps sglang_flashinfer_trtllm_moe to flashinfer_trtllm_gen; existing B200 fp8-block facts also list the Triton lane separately. [::ai-dynamo/aiconfigurator::] collector/op_backend_facts.yaml:1550-1555; collector/kernel_source_backends.yaml:128-130

ai-dynamo/dynamo

  • No direct references to collection_meta, sglang_flashinfer_trtllm_moe, or moe_kernel_source were found. Dynamo currently pins AISimulate packages to 0.12.0, so this metadata append has no immediate downstream code change in the linked consumer. The PR description now follows the required headings and includes the review map, contract and rollback notes, exact validation commands/results, evidence classification, current reviewed commits, CI status, and AIC-1781 tracking. The detailed binary audit and reproducible real-native consumer checks are linked from the description. @coderabbitai Please recheck the remaining description/review-evidence warning; the commit and measured data have not changed.

@Arsene12358, I rechecked the description at head 3353c05daf3b941e009a197daee2f2329239a66a. The Description and Review Evidence pre-merge checks both pass. The linked binary audit and native-consumer evidence address the earlier evidence request; that review thread is already resolved.

The summary’s instruction to provide those artifacts is stale. It does not represent an open description or review-evidence finding. Full CI was still in progress in the status I retrieved, so this recheck does not establish merge readiness.

The completed full review at d4f6f013220c829869887eb01aa4437f9a60b860 reports no actionable comments and eight passing pre-merge checks. The remaining capacity sentence in the summary refers to the already resolved inherited finding, with disposition and real probe evidence in #296 (comment). crates/core/src/python.rs is unchanged from main and the code prerequisite; this PR adds only the two measured-data assets and one observed-backend fact. The probe returned the same 2,758,041 blocks with/without source, and the follow-up is tracked on AIC-1781, not claimed fixed. @coderabbitai Please recheck the summary against that evidence and resolved-thread disposition; identify any newly introduced incorrect behavior if one remains.

@Arsene12358, the capacity merge warning in the summary is stale. crates/core/src/python.rs has the same Git blob on main, the #326 prerequisite, and PR #296 head d4f6f013. The capacity review thread is resolved as an inherited AIC-1781 follow-up, not as fixed.

The reported probe returned 2,758,041 blocks with and without the source. That result does not prove every capacity path is correct, but it does not demonstrate incorrect behavior introduced by this PR. I found no newly introduced incorrect behavior in the evidence checked. The summary should remove the instruction to resolve this inherited gap before merging; CI and approvals remain separate gates.

Learning: In ai-dynamo/aisimulate PR `#296`, `crates/core/src/python.rs` is byte-identical across main commit `992dddc7ee2bad8fd523e7db99eea4ac64254766`, code prerequisite commit `3acfa103521cfdd9bc5e33e73c65ec8bb409e584`, and data PR head `d4f6f013220c829869887eb01aa4437f9a60b860`. The omitted `moe_kernel_source` kwarg in native replay capacity estimation is a resolved, inherited AIC-1781 follow-up, not a fix or demonstrated incorrect capacity result introduced by PR `#296`; a native probe returned 2,758,041 blocks with and without the source.

These changes will be applied once approved by an admin.

Current-head refresh evidence (2026-09-29)

Data head 346496aec586dc07c49ff70b010f153ea1d60cc9 includes merged prerequisite #326 on a2b04a59a277aa8ef4687ef451cc46f4c848fa50. The review diff is exactly the B200 Parquet, collection sidecar, and one observed-backend registry line. Both data assets are byte-identical to the previously reviewed data head d4f6f013220c829869887eb01aa4437f9a60b860; no measurements or provenance were changed by this refresh.

Fresh locked native build from main a2b04a59a277aa8ef4687ef451cc46f4c848fa50, Python 3.13.3, engine schema 21, native SHA256 643848a255b4f00ba015976ea2b6f802ccce56a8e17e11f85323d4e0d1391205. All 56,862 automatic outcomes equal current main; all 24,624 exact-source latencies equal recorded measurements; default coverage views match. All 324 TP32 rows remain available explicitly and rejected with unset/Triton SILICON selection. This is real-native loader/selection validation, not new GPU collection or an accuracy claim.

Backend-facts check passes all 2,153 slices. The focused backend-facts, metadata-schema, and provenance suites pass all 77 tests. CodeRabbit, independent Codex review, and hosted CI for this new head are separate gates and are not claimed complete here.

Codex review completed for exact head 346496a against main a2b04a5. Independent Standards review: 0 findings. Independent Spec review: 0 findings. Both reviewers reran the native consumer audit and data checks themselves. CodeRabbit also genuinely reviewed this exact commit (coveredCommitId matches, kind=reviewed), reported no actionable findings, and passed all eight pre-merge checks; its subsequent auto-pause notice does not invalidate that completed review. There are no unresolved review threads. Fast CI 36514115343 passed. Admitting this reviewed head to Full CI through the normal trusted-copy path; this comment is review evidence, not a substitute for the required human approval or CI gates.
