Thanks! While not the perfect long-term solution this resolves the original issue.
The 6px
padding is a bit of a shame given it doesn't respect the 4px baseline, but since it's based on the buttons it's not something we should address here.
Side note: Should we top-align all rows? It seems a bit strange for this to be applied inconsistently (see the 'Publish' row).
Thanks for the review, @jameskoster!
I agree. It will probably look something like this: But top-aligning rows like "Public" and "Single Posts" can be a little tricky. Because the two buttons have a height of 36px and the space above the letters is slightly more than 6px. In any case, I think it's better to align the Publish label row to the top, so I'll try to address it in a follow-up PR 🙂 |
Oh yes, definitely a detail to explore separately :) |
I just cherry-picked this PR to the update/bugfixes-6-3-1 branch to get it included in the next release: caee397 |

Fixes: #52960
What?
This PR prevents the problem of overlapping sync status label in the right sidebar of the Pattern post type page.
Why?
This label has a width of 45%, but the text exceeds this width in some languages.
How?
I have applied
word-break:break-word
to the label. As far as I have tested it in several languages, it appears to wrap properly withoutbreak-all
.In addition, I have applied 6px padding to the top and bottom as well as the other rows. This is because I applied
align-items:flex-start
to make it top-aligned, and without this padding the text would be too close to the top.Testing Instructions
