Reverts #332289

This PR is incomplete, and a hack to optional-dependencies should also be resolved upstream, like #332747.

The revert makes sense, it has been upgraded without updating the hash. This revert is totally legit, there's no need to wait for any maintainers.

Heh, whoops. 0.75.1 just came out, anyway. I'll right the ship for that update.
