[https://nvbugs/6858520][fix] Reload a request's LoRA adapter in the format it was admitted with - #20774
Conversation
…tted with On the PyTorch backend, BaseWorker loads a request's LoRA adapter at enqueue time using the request's LoRARequest.lora_ckpt_source, and PeftCacheManager.add_request_peft loads it again on each rank when it is not cached. The second load used the server-level LoraConfig.lora_ckpt_source, so a request whose format differed from the server's was re-read from different files on the executor thread, and an error in that load stopped the executor loop for all requests. Carry the request's checkpoint format to the executor as py_lora_ckpt_source next to py_lora_path, and use it in add_request_peft, falling back to LoraConfig.lora_ckpt_source when the request carries none. Description
On the PyTorch backend, a request's LoRA adapter is loaded in
BaseWorker._enqueue_requestwith the request'sLoRARequest.lora_ckpt_source. When the adapter is not in the PEFT cache,PeftCacheManager.add_request_peftloads it again on every rank, but used the server-levelLoraConfig.lora_ckpt_sourcefor that load instead of the request's.This change carries the request's checkpoint format to the executor next to
py_lora_path(aspy_lora_ckpt_source). It is set inBaseWorker, broadcast with the other per-request Python objects, and stored onLlmRequest.add_request_peftnow reloads the adapter with the request's format. Requests that carry no per-request format still use theLoraConfigvalue.Test Coverage
