82-82: 🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick winDeclare request-body schemas for both render routes.
Both handlers read
Requestdirectly. FastAPI therefore does not document their request bodies in OpenAPI, althoughServingRendervalidates them later. Generated clients cannot discover the accepted chat or completion body from these routes. Add the corresponding request schemas while preserving the current 400 error handling. (fastapi.tiangolo.com)Based on learnings: “define request and response bodies as explicit Pydantic models rather than raw dicts or untyped parameters.”

Requesting changes for the inline issues: forwarded requests can lose their tool_calls, Kimi-K3 Responses tokenization changed, and truncation races on the shared tokenizer. Plus one question on gpt-oss routing.

Thanks for the PR! I found 2 additional cases where matching fingerprints can allow different prompt tokens.
- Request-selected templates: Two configurations can share the same default templates but resolve chat_template="alternate" to different text. The current fingerprint checks only the defaults with and without tools, so it misses this difference. fingerprint.py:173–182
- Truncation direction: Supplied tokenizer instances can use different truncation_side settings and still have matching fingerprints. When truncation is requested, one keeps the beginning of the prompt and the other keeps the end. fingerprint.py:126–143
In both cases, the router can forward tokens that differ from what the worker would produce. Could we include selectable named templates and the effective truncation direction in the fingerprint, with tests for both cases?
PS: If compatibility cannot be checked, the worker should render the original request.

Reconcile with NVIDIA#19964, which renders Responses prompts through serve/render: - _create_input_tokens builds the RenderResources first (tool serialization needs it), renders developer messages as system, then parses and renders once through render_conversation. - The developer-role probe resolves the server's chat template too, the template the render now uses. - Tests that fake the render path stub render_conversation and set the server's chat_template. Signed-off-by: JunyiXu-nv <219237550+JunyiXu-nv@users.noreply.github.com>
Follow-up to NVIDIA#19964. Every chat request now becomes a prompt through serve/render, and nothing consults a switch for the pre-merge behavior. Removed - TRTLLM_RENDER_LEGACY, legacy_render_enabled and RenderResources.legacy_view. - The router's own renderer (render_chat_request_for_tokenizer and tokenize_chat_request_for_serving in chat_tokenization.py), the router's legacy tokenization path and count_tokens' private estimate. The Harmony tokenization helpers stay. Added - render_chat_for_length, for the two callers that only need a length for a request the exact render_chat refuses (the KV-aware router's routing ids and count_tokens). It renders a copy of the request that render_chat accepts: media is left out, a tool_choice that forces a tool (required or a named function) is cleared while none and auto are kept, and the model is treated as a plain text model (no extension preprocessing or refusals, no own input processor), keeping the extension's tool serialization. Harmony keeps its own conversion and falls back to the tokenizer's template for messages it cannot convert. System blocks, tool definitions and the chat template stay in the length; the media's own tokens do not. The result is never forwarded to a worker. render_chat stays exact-or-refuse. - UnrenderableMessagesError (a subclass of UnsupportedRenderError) for messages the request model rejects, such as object-valued tool-call arguments. The router routes such a request on no ids and leaves it to the worker. Fixed - The router decided whether to forward its ids from state kept on the instance, so a second thread could reset it mid-decision and forward ids to a worker whose rendering fingerprint differs. The decision and its reasons are local values now (WriteBackDecision). Behavior - count_tokens counts the prompt the chat route builds, with system blocks, tools and the chat template, and no longer prints an image's URL or base64 text into the prompt. The image's own tokens are not counted. - A request the router cannot render exactly no longer crashes it. Tests: the legacy-switch tests are removed, the kwargs-guard tests now go through the shared pipeline, and tests cover the length render, the router end to end, count_tokens for media, passthrough and tool requests, and concurrent write-back decisions. The result is never forwarded to a worker, and the caller's request keeps its tool calls. render_chat stays exact-or-refuse. - UnrenderableMessagesError (a subclass of UnsupportedRenderError) for messages the request model rejects, such as object-valued tool-call arguments. The router routes such a request on no ids and leaves it to the worker. - HarmonyConversionError (a subclass of RuntimeError) for the Harmony adapter's conversion failure, so the fallback for it does not swallow an unrelated RuntimeError. The router routes such a request on no ids. - The router no longer crashes on a request with media, object-valued tool arguments or a Harmony conversion error. A request the chat template rejects (a keyword argument it never reads) still raises, as before. TensorRT-LLM now exposes a shared /v1/chat/completions/render endpoint and a CPU-only trtllm-render process (NVIDIA/TensorRT-LLM#19964). Add a "trtllm-render" value for DYN_EPP_TOKENIZER_PROTOCOL and a TrtllmRenderClient that posts the unchanged chat body and reads token_ids from the returned RenderedRequest, sharing the existing render_http transport and error mapping. Add a raw-worker on-ramp manifest (trtllm-agg.yaml) with stock trtllm-serve workers publishing native streaming KV events over ZMQ, a CPU-only renderer, and the standalone EPP; document it in the onramp README and stop claiming vllm-render is the only protocol. …t, then prove it with an A/B When a check finds a serving defect, the loop now starts by looking for a fix that already exists: the Kernel Factory campaign branches carry most harness fixes found under production traffic (the K3 branch holds all of them), and an open upstream PR may already touch the same code. A branch commit seldom applies to main as is, so the section says how to see the conflicts without a worktree and when to port or rewrite. A fix is then proven by an A/B on one node: main and main plus the fix, served side by side with the same model and deterministic configuration, given the same replayed corpus and the same harness tasks, judged by verdict.py per side. The fix's rule must reach zero and every other count must stay put, and each regression test must fail on the old code by assertion rather than at collection. The offline render note now names the shared render pipeline that the chat path and count_tokens use since NVIDIA#19964. …i x main fixes The A/B ran on one GB300 node with Qwen3-30B-A3B and pi 1.4.0: main against main plus PR NVIDIA#19883 and the fixes. Both sides came from the same precompiled CI build, so they differed only in Python. Every rule the pi run had tripped on main went to zero, and count_tokens turned out to be fixed on main already by NVIDIA#19964. The record also notes two other findings: an MoE model that stays nondeterministic under greedy decoding makes the S4 differential inconclusive, so render-level evidence comes from the S3 replay; and a defect where streamed Messages requests lost their request metrics.
