viirs-m_j2 is now available in the dumps, but NCEP is not yet using those. Should we turn it on? |

there are also dumps available back to 2019 in the gdasx archive. Should we grab those and push to NNJA? |

@CatherineThomas-NOAA : Do GFS v17 retros reach back to or before 20210323? I'm wondering if we need the changes in this PR in GFS v17 retrospective parallels? Even if GFS v17 retros don't cover 20210323 or before, I get it doesn't hurt to have the files in this PR included in GFS v17. What do you think @jswhit and @jack-woollen ? |

@RussTreadon-NOAA since the parallels will be compared to ops, I think the idea is we want to match the operational obs usage as closely as possible. |
