Eighth Release

- Added new cards based on the Codex Arcanum mod. Not yet in the changelog file, it will soon.

- Massive under the hood changes: DX and Cursed cards are no longer specific sets, this should help with mod compatibility. (

Balance changes
- Increased drop rate of Cursed Tarots from 6% to 7%
- Standard DX booster cards are now guaranteed to be enhanced, and have a higher chance to get an edition/seal.
- Buffoon DX booster jokers have a higher chance to get an edition.

TL;DR

Balance changes
Thanks to everyone who answered the feedback form. Many changes listed below are from these answers.
DX Tarots
Overall they are seen as quite balanced by the majority.
Drop rate
Reduced from 12% to 10% : Back to the original value when the mod was created.
The Wheel of Fortune DX
Increased the chance from 1 in 3 to 1 in 2.
DX Planets
Overall they are seen as quite balanced by the majority. I'm not completely satisfied myself, however it won't change this patch. Maybe stuff will change when cursed planets are introduced
DX Spectrals
That's an interesting part. Overall they are seen as quite balanced, but there is a lot of variance for each card. All cards are seen as overpowered and underpowered. So no changes for now.
DX Boosters
Overall they are seen as quite balanced by the majority. Only exceptions being Standard DX
and Buffoon DX
. (Probably because they don't really have unique DX cards for them). I'll find a way to make them feel more "unique".
Cursed Tarots
Interesting result here too, same as DX Spectrals
. Some are on the priority list to change how they work/help like The Cursed Fool
, The Cursed Lovers
, The Cursed Hermit
, The Cursed Wheel of Fortune
, and Cursed Judgement
.
Drop rate
Reduced from 10% to 6%.
Cursed Justice
Reduced bonus from 5X to 3.5X.
Curses
Here is the hardest part to balance. People mostly see them as either run killers, or don't notice them. As there is for now no way to reove curses, the balance will tend to nerf them a little until I find a better solution to manage curses in a run. Note that you can easily edit the balance of a curse in the curse.lua
file. Look for the G.P_CURSES
definition. From here you can edit the config
variable of each curse.
The Arm
Reduced chance from 1 in 6 to 1 in 7
The Eye
Added an indication if the curse will trigger or not on the highlighted hand.
Increase mult from X0.6 to X0.65
The Mouth
Added which was the first hand played.
Increase mult from X0.6 to X0.65
The Plant/Goad/Head/Club/Window/Fish/Pillar
Reduced chance from 1 in 2 to 2 in 5
The Flint
Reduced base decrease from 30% to 20%
