This is a cherry-pick of ce5f553 from
stages/prod, which reverts commit cc507d0, intended for the main branch. The original hope was to have settled concerns between last week and this week, but that's looking unlikely at this point. To avoid conflicts and to keep main in sync with current production Acuant SDK, this reverts the upgrade until we feel more confident in it.
