@jcam at #3555 (comment) quotes a colleague as saying, after trying Zulip:

"every time i type a response it ends up responding to the wrong topic"

I take this as UI feedback, that the interaction of the message list with the topic in the compose box was confusing. I'm inferring that the person was on a stream narrow, and guessing that they opened the compose box and didn't notice the topic input.

I don't have an immediate idea for something we'd do about this, but wanted to log it so we can aggregate if we hear the same feedback again.
