@fisker @sindresorhus - I went ahead and got this fixed based on the work @fisker did here. I'm gonna submit it in a separate PR. I didn't do a performance test - but I think this likely does solve the issue. |

Attempt to fix #599, I haven't test with the repo in original issue, I'm not sure if this solves the issue.
I'm really busy recently, I may not able to complete this PR.
