commit bc056e7 upstream. When we calculate the end position of ext4_free_extent, this position may be exactly where ext4_lblk_t (i.e. uint) overflows. For example, if ac_g_ex.fe_logical is 4294965248 and ac_orig_goal_len is 2048, then the computed end is 0x100000000, which is 0. If ac->ac_o_ex.fe_logical is not the first case of adjusting the best extent, that is, new_bex_end > 0, the following BUG_ON will be triggered: ========================================================= kernel BUG at fs/ext4/mballoc.c:5116! invalid opcode: 0000 [#1] PREEMPT SMP PTI CPU: 3 PID: 673 Comm: xfs_io Tainted: G E 6.5.0-rc1+ #279 RIP: 0010:ext4_mb_new_inode_pa+0xc5/0x430 Call Trace: <TASK> ext4_mb_use_best_found+0x203/0x2f0 ext4_mb_try_best_found+0x163/0x240 ext4_mb_regular_allocator+0x158/0x1550 ext4_mb_new_blocks+0x86a/0xe10 ext4_ext_map_blocks+0xb0c/0x13a0 ext4_map_blocks+0x2cd/0x8f0 ext4_iomap_begin+0x27b/0x400 iomap_iter+0x222/0x3d0 __iomap_dio_rw+0x243/0xcb0 iomap_dio_rw+0x16/0x80 ========================================================= A simple reproducer demonstrating the problem: mkfs.ext4 -F /dev/sda -b 4096 100M mount /dev/sda /tmp/test fallocate -l1M /tmp/test/tmp fallocate -l10M /tmp/test/file fallocate -i -o 1M -l16777203M /tmp/test/file fsstress -d /tmp/test -l 0 -n 100000 -p 8 & sleep 10 && killall -9 fsstress rm -f /tmp/test/tmp xfs_io -c "open -ad /tmp/test/file" -c "pwrite -S 0xff 0 8192" We simply refactor the logic for adjusting the best extent by adding a temporary ext4_free_extent ex and use extent_logical_end() to avoid overflow, which also simplifies the code. commit bc056e7 upstream. When we calculate the end position of ext4_free_extent, this position may be exactly where ext4_lblk_t (i.e. uint) overflows. For example, if ac_g_ex.fe_logical is 4294965248 and ac_orig_goal_len is 2048, then the computed end is 0x100000000, which is 0. If ac->ac_o_ex.fe_logical is not the first case of adjusting the best extent, that is, new_bex_end > 0, the following BUG_ON will be triggered: ========================================================= kernel BUG at fs/ext4/mballoc.c:5116! invalid opcode: 0000 [#1] PREEMPT SMP PTI CPU: 3 PID: 673 Comm: xfs_io Tainted: G E 6.5.0-rc1+ #279 RIP: 0010:ext4_mb_new_inode_pa+0xc5/0x430 Call Trace: <TASK> ext4_mb_use_best_found+0x203/0x2f0 ext4_mb_try_best_found+0x163/0x240 ext4_mb_regular_allocator+0x158/0x1550 ext4_mb_new_blocks+0x86a/0xe10 ext4_ext_map_blocks+0xb0c/0x13a0 ext4_map_blocks+0x2cd/0x8f0 ext4_iomap_begin+0x27b/0x400 iomap_iter+0x222/0x3d0 __iomap_dio_rw+0x243/0xcb0 iomap_dio_rw+0x16/0x80 ========================================================= A simple reproducer demonstrating the problem: mkfs.ext4 -F /dev/sda -b 4096 100M mount /dev/sda /tmp/test fallocate -l1M /tmp/test/tmp fallocate -l10M /tmp/test/file fallocate -i -o 1M -l16777203M /tmp/test/file fsstress -d /tmp/test -l 0 -n 100000 -p 8 & sleep 10 && killall -9 fsstress rm -f /tmp/test/tmp xfs_io -c "open -ad /tmp/test/file" -c "pwrite -S 0xff 0 8192" We simply refactor the logic for adjusting the best extent by adding a temporary ext4_free_extent ex and use extent_logical_end() to avoid overflow, which also simplifies the code. … UAF commit 226fae1 upstream. After a call to console_unlock() in vcs_read() the vc_data struct can be freed by vc_deallocate(). As &dev->condlock is acquired under irq context along the following call chain from s5p_mfc_irq(), other acquisition of the same lock inside process context or softirq context should disable irq avoid double lock. enc_post_frame_start() seems to be one such function that execute under process context or softirq context. <deadlock #1> enc_post_frame_start() --> clear_work_bit() --> spin_loc(&dev->condlock) <interrupt> --> s5p_mfc_irq() --> s5p_mfc_handle_frame() --> clear_work_bit() --> spin_lock(&dev->condlock) This flaw was found by an experimental static analysis tool I am developing for irq-related deadlock. To prevent the potential deadlock, the patch change clear_work_bit() inside enc_post_frame_start() to clear_work_bit_irqsave(). commit bb32500 upstream The following can crash the kernel: # cd /sys/kernel/tracing # echo 'p:sched schedule' > kprobe_events # exec 5>>events/kprobes/sched/enable # > kprobe_events # exec 5>&- The above commands: 1. Change directory to the tracefs directory 2. Create a kprobe event (doesn't matter what one) 3. Open bash file descriptor 5 on the enable file of the kprobe event 4. Delete the kprobe event (removes the files too) 5. Close the bash file descriptor 5 The above causes a crash! BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000028 #PF: supervisor read access in kernel mode #PF: error_code(0x0000) - not-present page PGD 0 P4D 0 Oops: 0000 [#1] PREEMPT SMP PTI CPU: 6 PID: 877 Comm: bash Not tainted 6.5.0-rc4-test-00008-g2c6b6b1029d4-dirty #186 Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (Q35 + ICH9, 2009), BIOS 1.16.2-debian-1.16.2-1 04/01/2014 RIP: 0010:tracing_release_file_tr+0xc/0x50 What happens here is that the kprobe event creates a trace_event_file "file" descriptor that represents the file in tracefs to the event. It maintains state of the event (is it enabled for the given instance?). Opening the "enable" file gets a reference to the event "file" descriptor via the open file descriptor. When the kprobe event is deleted, the file is also deleted from the tracefs system which also frees the event "file" descriptor. But as the tracefs file is still opened by user space, it will not be totally removed until the final dput() is called on it. But this is not true with the event "file" descriptor that is already freed. If the user does a write to or simply closes the file descriptor it will reference the event "file" descriptor that was just freed, causing a use-after-free bug. To solve this, add a ref count to the event "file" descriptor as well as a new flag called "FREED". The "file" will not be freed until the last reference is released. But the FREE flag will be set when the event is removed to prevent any more modifications to that event from happening, even if there's still a reference to the event "file" descriptor. Analysis of the oops pointed to a struct page with a corrupted compound_head being loaded via page_folio() -> _compound_head() in hash_page_do_lazy_icache(). The access by the mpic code is to an MMIO address, so the expectation is that the struct page for that address would be initialised by init_unavailable_range(), as pointed out by Aneesh. Instrumentation showed that was not the case, which eventually lead to the realisation that pfn_valid() was returning false for that address, causing the struct page to not be initialised. Because the system is using FLATMEM, the version of pfn_valid() in memory_model.h is used: static inline int pfn_valid(unsigned long pfn) { ... return pfn >= pfn_offset && (pfn - pfn_offset) < max_mapnr; } Which relies on max_mapnr being initialised. Early in boot max_mapnr is zero meaning no PFNs are valid. max_mapnr is initialised in mem_init() called via: start_kernel() mm_core_init() # init/main.c:928 mem_init() But that is too late for the usage in init_unavailable_range() called via: start_kernel() setup_arch() # init/main.c:893 paging_init() free_area_init() init_unavailable_range() Although max_mapnr is currently set in mem_init(), the value is actually already available much earlier, as soon as mem_topology_setup() has completed, which is also before paging_init() is called. So move the initialisation there, which causes paging_init() to correctly initialise the struct page and fixes the bug. This bug seems to have been lurking for years, but went unnoticed because the pre-folio code was inspecting the uninitialised page->flags but not dereferencing it. Thanks to Erhard and Aneesh for help debugging. commit bc056e7 upstream. When we calculate the end position of ext4_free_extent, this position may be exactly where ext4_lblk_t (i.e. uint) overflows. commit 6c2f421 upstream. Several core drivers and buses expect that driver_override is a dynamically allocated memory thus later they can kfree() it. However such assumption is not documented, there were in the past and there are already users setting it to a string literal. Then we continue the error path cleanup in btrfs_balance() by calling reset_balance_state() which will call del_balance_item() to fully delete the balance item in the root tree. However during the small window between set_reloc_contrl() and unset_reloc_control(), we can have a subvolume tree update and created a reloc_root for that subvolume. Then we go into the final btrfs_commit_transaction() of del_balance_item(), and into btrfs_update_reloc_root() inside commit_fs_roots(). That function checks if fs_info->reloc_ctl is in the merge_reloc_tree stage, but since fs_info->reloc_ctl is NULL, it results a NULL pointer dereference. [FIX] Just add extra check on fs_info->reloc_ctl inside btrfs_update_reloc_root(), before checking fs_info->reloc_ctl->merge_reloc_tree. That DEAD_RELOC_TREE handling is to prevent further modification to the reloc tree during merge stage, but since there is no reloc_ctl at all, we do not need to bother that. commit 221af82 upstream. Since commit 3f8ca2e ("vhost/scsi: Extract common handling code from control queue handler") a null pointer dereference bug can be triggered when guest sends an SCSI AN request. In vhost_scsi_ctl_handle_vq(), `vc.target` is assigned with `&v_req.tmf.lun[1]` within a switch-case block and is then passed to vhost_scsi_get_req() which extracts `vc->req` and `tpg`. However, for a `VIRTIO_SCSI_T_AN_*` request, tpg is not required, so `vc.target` is set to NULL in this branch. Later, in vhost_scsi_get_req(), `vc->target` is dereferenced without being checked, leading to a null pointer dereference bug. This bug can be triggered from guest. When this bug occurs, the vhost_worker process is killed while holding `vq->mutex` and the corresponding tpg will remain occupied indefinitely. commit 9af2efe upstream. The fields in the hist_entry are filled on-demand which means they only have meaningful values when relevant sort keys are used. [ Upstream commit 7b12469 ] The km.state is not checked in driver's delayed work. When xfrm_state_check_expire() is called, the state can be reset to XFRM_STATE_EXPIRED, even if it is XFRM_STATE_DEAD already. This happens when xfrm state is deleted, but not freed yet. As __xfrm_state_delete() is called again in xfrm timer, the following crash occurs. To fix this issue, skip xfrm_state_check_expire() if km.state is not XFRM_STATE_VALID. When this packet arrives in qdisc_pkt_len_init(), we end up with hdr_len = 28 (IPv4 header + UDP header), matching skb->len Then the following sets gso_segs to 0 : gso_segs = DIV_ROUND_UP(skb->len - hdr_len, shinfo->gso_size); Then later we set qdisc_skb_cb(skb)->pkt_len to back to zero :/ qdisc_skb_cb(skb)->pkt_len += (gso_segs - 1) * hdr_len; This leads to the following crash in fq_codel [1] qdisc_pkt_len_init() is best effort, we only want an estimation of the bytes sent on the wire, not crashing the kernel. This patch is fixing this particular issue, a following one adds more sanity checks for another potential bug. [ Upstream commit 7257d9c ] xe_migrate_copy designed to copy content of TTM resources. When source resource is null, it will trigger a NULL pointer dereference in xe_migrate_copy. To avoid this situation, update lacks source flag to true for this case, the flag will trigger xe_migrate_clear rather than xe_migrate_copy. [ Upstream commit 7dd5d25 ] If SER L2 occurs during the WoWLAN resume flow, the add interface flow is triggered by ieee80211_reconfig(). However, due to rtw89_wow_resume() return failure, it will cause the add interface flow to be executed again, resulting in a double add list and causing a kernel panic. Therefore, we have added a check to prevent double adding of the list. list_add double add: new=ffff99d6992e2010, prev=ffff99d6992e2010, next=ffff99d695302628. ------------[ cut here ]------------ kernel BUG at lib/list_debug.c:37! invalid opcode: 0000 [#1] PREEMPT SMP NOPTI CPU: 0 PID: 9 Comm: kworker/0:1 Tainted: G W O 6.6.30-02659-gc18865c4dfbd #1 770df2933251a0e3c888ba69d1053a817a6376a7 Hardware name: HP Grunt/Grunt, BIOS Google_Grunt.11031.169.0 06/24/2021 Workqueue: events_freezable ieee80211_restart_work [mac80211] RIP: 0010:__list_add_valid_or_report+0x5e/0xb0 Code: c7 74 18 48 39 ce 74 13 b0 01 59 5a 5e 5f 41 58 41 59 41 5a 5d e9 e2 d6 03 00 cc 48 c7 c7 8d 4f 17 83 48 89 c2 e8 02 c0 00 00 <0f> 0b 48 c7 c7 aa 8c 1c 83 e8 f4 bf 00 00 0f 0b 48 c7 c7 c8 bc 12 RSP: 0018:ffffa91b8007bc50 EFLAGS: 00010246 RAX: 0000000000000058 RBX: ffff99d6992e0900 RCX: a014d76c70ef3900 RDX: ffffa91b8007bae8 RSI: 00000000ffffdfff RDI: 0000000000000001 RBP: ffffa91b8007bc88 R08: 0000000000000000 R09: ffffa91b8007bae0 R10: 00000000ffffdfff R11: ffffffff83a79800 R12: ffff99d695302060 R13: ffff99d695300900 R14: ffff99d6992e1be0 R15: ffff99d6992e2010 FS: 0000000000000000(0000) GS:ffff99d6aac00000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 0000000080050033 CR2: 000078fbdba43480 CR3: 000000010e464000 CR4: 00000000001506f0 Call Trace: <TASK> ? __die_body+0x1f/0x70 ? die+0x3d/0x60 ? do_trap+0xa4/0x110 ? __list_add_valid_or_report+0x5e/0xb0 ? do_error_trap+0x6d/0x90 ? __list_add_valid_or_report+0x5e/0xb0 ? handle_invalid_op+0x30/0x40 ? __list_add_valid_or_report+0x5e/0xb0 ? exc_invalid_op+0x3c/0x50 ? asm_exc_invalid_op+0x16/0x20 ? __list_add_valid_or_report+0x5e/0xb0 rtw89_ops_add_interface+0x309/0x310 [rtw89_core 7c32b1ee6854761c0321027c8a58c5160e41f48f] drv_add_interface+0x5c/0x130 [mac80211 83e989e6e616bd5b4b8a2b0a9f9352a2c385a3bc] ieee80211_reconfig+0x241/0x13d0 [mac80211 83e989e6e616bd5b4b8a2b0a9f9352a2c385a3bc] ? finish_wait+0x3e/0x90 ? synchronize_rcu_expedited+0x174/0x260 ? sync_rcu_exp_done_unlocked+0x50/0x50 ? wake_bit_function+0x40/0x40 ieee80211_restart_work+0xf0/0x140 [mac80211 83e989e6e616bd5b4b8a2b0a9f9352a2c385a3bc] process_scheduled_works+0x1e5/0x480 worker_thread+0xea/0x1e0 kthread+0xdb/0x110 ? move_linked_works+0x90/0x90 ? kthread_associate_blkcg+0xa0/0xa0 ret_from_fork+0x3b/0x50 ? kthread_associate_blkcg+0xa0/0xa0 ret_from_fork_asm+0x11/0x20 </TASK> Modules linked in: dm_integrity async_xor xor async_tx lz4 lz4_compress zstd zstd_compress zram zsmalloc rfcomm cmac uinput algif_hash algif_skcipher af_alg btusb btrtl iio_trig_hrtimer industrialio_sw_trigger btmtk industrialio_configfs btbcm btintel uvcvideo videobuf2_vmalloc iio_trig_sysfs videobuf2_memops videobuf2_v4l2 videobuf2_common uvc snd_hda_codec_hdmi veth snd_hda_intel snd_intel_dspcfg acpi_als snd_hda_codec industrialio_triggered_buffer kfifo_buf snd_hwdep industrialio i2c_piix4 snd_hda_core designware_i2s ip6table_nat snd_soc_max98357a xt_MASQUERADE xt_cgroup snd_soc_acp_rt5682_mach fuse rtw89_8922ae(O) rtw89_8922a(O) rtw89_pci(O) rtw89_core(O) 8021q mac80211(O) bluetooth ecdh_generic ecc cfg80211 r8152 mii joydev gsmi: Log Shutdown Reason 0x03 ---[ end trace 0000000000000000 ]--- Signed-off-by: Chih-Kang Chang <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Ping-Ke Shih <[email protected]> Link: https://patch.msgid.link/[email protected] Signed-off-by: Sasha Levin <[email protected]>

[ Upstream commit 3cf7423 ] If qi_submit_sync() is invoked with 0 invalidation descriptors (for instance, for DMA draining purposes), we can run into a bug where a submitting thread fails to detect the completion of invalidation_wait. Subsequently, this led to a soft lockup. Currently, there is no impact by this bug on the existing users because no callers are submitting invalidations with 0 descriptors. This fix will enable future users (such as DMA drain) calling qi_submit_sync() with 0 count. Suppose thread T1 invokes qi_submit_sync() with non-zero descriptors, while concurrently, thread T2 calls qi_submit_sync() with zero descriptors. Both threads then enter a while loop, waiting for their respective descriptors to complete. T1 detects its completion (i.e., T1's invalidation_wait status changes to QI_DONE by HW) and proceeds to call reclaim_free_desc() to reclaim all descriptors, potentially including adjacent ones of other threads that are also marked as QI_DONE. During this time, while T2 is waiting to acquire the qi->q_lock, the IOMMU hardware may complete the invalidation for T2, setting its status to QI_DONE. However, if T1's execution of reclaim_free_desc() frees T2's invalidation_wait descriptor and changes its status to QI_FREE, T2 will not observe the QI_DONE status for its invalidation_wait and will indefinitely remain stuck. This soft lockup does not occur when only non-zero descriptors are submitted. In such cases, invalidation descriptors are interspersed among wait descriptors with the status QI_IN_USE, acting as barriers. These barriers prevent the reclaim code from mistakenly freeing descriptors belonging to other submitters. Considered the following example timeline: T1 T2 ======================================== ID1 WD1 while(WD1!=QI_DONE) unlock lock WD1=QI_DONE* WD2 while(WD2!=QI_DONE) unlock lock WD1==QI_DONE? ID1=QI_DONE WD2=DONE* reclaim() ID1=FREE WD1=FREE WD2=FREE unlock soft lockup! T2 never sees QI_DONE in WD2 Where: ID = invalidation descriptor WD = wait descriptor * Written by hardware The root of the problem is that the descriptor status QI_DONE flag is used for two conflicting purposes: 1. signal a descriptor is ready for reclaim (to be freed) 2. signal by the hardware that a wait descriptor is complete The solution (in this patch) is state separation by using QI_FREE flag for #1. Once a thread's invalidation descriptors are complete, their status would be set to QI_FREE. The reclaim_free_desc() function would then only free descriptors marked as QI_FREE instead of those marked as QI_DONE. This change ensures that T2 (from the previous example) will correctly observe the completion of its invalidation_wait (marked as QI_DONE). [ Upstream commit 7dd34d7 ] Zac Ecob reported a problem where a bpf program may cause kernel crash due to the following error: Oops: divide error: 0000 [#1] PREEMPT SMP KASAN PTI The failure is due to the below signed divide: LLONG_MIN/-1 where LLONG_MIN equals to -9,223,372,036,854,775,808. LLONG_MIN/-1 is supposed to give a positive number 9,223,372,036,854,775,808, but it is impossible since for 64-bit system, the maximum positive number is 9,223,372,036,854,775,807. On x86_64, LLONG_MIN/-1 will cause a kernel exception. On arm64, the result for LLONG_MIN/-1 is LLONG_MIN. Further investigation found all the following sdiv/smod cases may trigger an exception when bpf program is running on x86_64 platform: - LLONG_MIN/-1 for 64bit operation - INT_MIN/-1 for 32bit operation - LLONG_MIN%-1 for 64bit operation - INT_MIN%-1 for 32bit operation where -1 can be an immediate or in a register. On arm64, there are no exceptions: - LLONG_MIN/-1 = LLONG_MIN - INT_MIN/-1 = INT_MIN - LLONG_MIN%-1 = 0 - INT_MIN%-1 = 0 where -1 can be an immediate or in a register. Insn patching is needed to handle the above cases and the patched codes produced results aligned with above arm64 result. The below are pseudo codes to handle sdiv/smod exceptions including both divisor -1 and divisor 0 and the divisor is stored in a register. sdiv: tmp = rX tmp += 1 /* [-1, 0] -> [0, 1] if tmp >(unsigned) 1 goto L2 if tmp == 0 goto L1 rY = 0 L1: rY = -rY; goto L3 L2: rY /= rX L3: smod: tmp = rX tmp += 1 /* [-1, 0] -> [0, 1] if tmp >(unsigned) 1 goto L1 if tmp == 1 (is64 ? goto L2 : goto L3) rY = 0; goto L2 L1: rY %= rX L2: goto L4 // only when !is64 L3: wY = wY // only when !is64 L4: [1] https://lore.kernel.org/bpf/tPJLTEh7S_DxFEqAI2Ji5MBSoZVg7_G-Py2iaZpAaWtM961fFTWtsnlzwvTbzBzaUzwQAoNATXKUlt0LZOFgnDcIyKCswAnAGdUF3LBrhGQ=@protonmail.com/ Reported-by: Zac Ecob <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Yonghong Song <[email protected]> Acked-by: Andrii Nakryiko <[email protected]> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/[email protected] Signed-off-by: Alexei Starovoitov <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Sasha Levin <[email protected]>

So if neither of 'dso' nor 'sym' sort keys are used, the map/symbols in the hist entry can be garbage. So it shouldn't access it unconditionally. I got a segfault, when I wanted to see cgroup profiles. $ sudo perf record -a --all-cgroups --synth=cgroup true $ sudo perf report -s cgroup Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0x00005555557a8d90 in map__dso (map=0x0) at util/map.h:48 48 return RC_CHK_ACCESS(map)->dso; (gdb) bt #0 0x00005555557a8d90 in map__dso (map=0x0) at util/map.h:48 #1 0x00005555557aa39b in map__load (map=0x0) at util/map.c:344 #2 0x00005555557aa592 in map__find_symbol (map=0x0, addr=140736115941088) at util/map.c:385 #3 0x00005555557ef000 in hists__findnew_entry (hists=0x555556039d60, entry=0x7fffffffa4c0, al=0x7fffffffa8c0, sample_self=true) at util/hist.c:644 #4 0x00005555557ef61c in __hists__add_entry (hists=0x555556039d60, al=0x7fffffffa8c0, sym_parent=0x0, bi=0x0, mi=0x0, ki=0x0, block_info=0x0, sample=0x7fffffffaa90, sample_self=true, ops=0x0) at util/hist.c:761 #5 0x00005555557ef71f in hists__add_entry (hists=0x555556039d60, al=0x7fffffffa8c0, sym_parent=0x0, bi=0x0, mi=0x0, ki=0x0, sample=0x7fffffffaa90, sample_self=true) at util/hist.c:779 #6 0x00005555557f00fb in iter_add_single_normal_entry (iter=0x7fffffffa900, al=0x7fffffffa8c0) at util/hist.c:1015 #7 0x00005555557f09a7 in hist_entry_iter__add (iter=0x7fffffffa900, al=0x7fffffffa8c0, max_stack_depth=127, arg=0x7fffffffbce0) at util/hist.c:1260 #8 0x00005555555ba7ce in process_sample_event (tool=0x7fffffffbce0, event=0x7ffff7c14128, sample=0x7fffffffaa90, evsel=0x555556039ad0, machine=0x5555560388e8) at builtin-report.c:334 #9 0x00005555557b30c8 in evlist__deliver_sample (evlist=0x555556039010, tool=0x7fffffffbce0, event=0x7ffff7c14128, sample=0x7fffffffaa90, evsel=0x555556039ad0, machine=0x5555560388e8) at util/session.c:1232 #10 0x00005555557b32bc in machines__deliver_event (machines=0x5555560388e8, evlist=0x555556039010, event=0x7ffff7c14128, sample=0x7fffffffaa90, tool=0x7fffffffbce0, file_offset=110888, file_path=0x555556038ff0 "perf.data") at util/session.c:1271 #11 0x00005555557b3848 in perf_session__deliver_event (session=0x5555560386d0, event=0x7ffff7c14128, tool=0x7fffffffbce0, file_offset=110888, file_path=0x555556038ff0 "perf.data") at util/session.c:1354 #12 0x00005555557affaf in ordered_events__deliver_event (oe=0x555556038e60, event=0x555556135aa0) at util/session.c:132 #13 0x00005555557bb605 in do_flush (oe=0x555556038e60, show_progress=false) at util/ordered-events.c:245 #14 0x00005555557bb95c in __ordered_events__flush (oe=0x555556038e60, how=OE_FLUSH__ROUND, timestamp=0) at util/ordered-events.c:324 #15 0x00005555557bba46 in ordered_events__flush (oe=0x555556038e60, how=OE_FLUSH__ROUND) at util/ordered-events.c:342 #16 0x00005555557b1b3b in perf_event__process_finished_round (tool=0x7fffffffbce0, event=0x7ffff7c15bb8, oe=0x555556038e60) at util/session.c:780 #17 0x00005555557b3b27 in perf_session__process_user_event (session=0x5555560386d0, event=0x7ffff7c15bb8, file_offset=117688, file_path=0x555556038ff0 "perf.data") at util/session.c:1406 As you can see the entry->ms.map was NULL even if he->ms.map has a value. Fix a kernel panic in the br_netfilter module when sending untagged traffic via a VxLAN device. This happens during the check for fragmentation in br_nf_dev_queue_xmit. It is dependent on: 1) the br_netfilter module being loaded; 2) net.bridge.bridge-nf-call-iptables set to 1; 3) a bridge with a VxLAN (single-vxlan-device) netdevice as a bridge port; 4) untagged frames with size higher than the VxLAN MTU forwarded/flooded When forwarding the untagged packet to the VxLAN bridge port, before the netfilter hooks are called, br_handle_egress_vlan_tunnel is called and changes the skb_dst to the tunnel dst. The tunnel_dst is a metadata type of dst, i.e., skb_valid_dst(skb) is false, and metadata->dst.dev is NULL. Then in the br_netfilter hooks, in br_nf_dev_queue_xmit, there's a check for frames that needs to be fragmented: frames with higher MTU than the VxLAN device end up calling br_nf_ip_fragment, which in turns call ip_skb_dst_mtu. The ip_dst_mtu tries to use the skb_dst(skb) as if it was a valid dst with valid dst->dev, thus the crash. This case was never supported in the first place, so drop the packet instead. Andy Roulin says: ==================== netfilter: br_netfilter: fix panic with metadata_dst skb There's a kernel panic possible in the br_netfilter module when sending untagged traffic via a VxLAN device. Traceback is included below. This happens during the check for fragmentation in br_nf_dev_queue_xmit if the MTU on the VxLAN device is not big enough. It is dependent on: 1) the br_netfilter module being loaded; 2) net.bridge.bridge-nf-call-iptables set to 1; 3) a bridge with a VxLAN (single-vxlan-device) netdevice as a bridge port; 4) untagged frames with size higher than the VxLAN MTU forwarded/flooded This case was never supported in the first place, so the first patch drops such packets. A regression selftest is added as part of the second patch. PING 10.0.0.2 (10.0.0.2) from 0.0.0.0 h1-eth0: 2000(2028) bytes of data. Commit 004d250 ("igb: Fix igb_down hung on surprise removal") changed igb_io_error_detected() to ignore non-fatal pcie errors in order to avoid hung task that can happen when igb_down() is called multiple times. This caused an issue when processing transient non-fatal errors. igb_io_resume(), which is called after igb_io_error_detected(), assumes that device is brought down by igb_io_error_detected() if the interface is up. This resulted in panic with stacktrace below. Most qdiscs maintain their backlog using qdisc_pkt_len(skb) on the assumption it is invariant between the enqueue() and dequeue() handlers. Unfortunately syzbot can crash a host rather easily using a TBF + SFQ combination, with an STAB on SFQ [1] We can't support TCA_STAB on arbitrary level, this would require to maintain per-qdisc storage. (????????) ---[ end trace 0000000000000000 ]--- This patch add a toy implementation that performs a simple return to prevent such panic. This is because MSS can be set in sock_create_kern or smc_setsockopt, similar to how it's done in AF_SMC. However, for AF_SMC, there is currently no way to synchronize MSS within __sys_connect_file. This toy implementation lays the groundwork for us to support such feature for IPPROTO_SMC in the future. On the node of an NFS client, some files saved in the mountpoint of the NFS server were copied to another location of the same NFS server. So the nfs4_copy_state address ffff0100f98fa3f0 was offset by 0x10 and the data accessed through this pointer was also incorrect. Generally, the ordered list nfs4_state_owner->so_states indicate open(O_RDWR) or open(O_WRITE) states are reclaimed firstly by nfs4_reclaim_open_state(). When destination state reclaim is failed with NFS_STATE_RECOVERY_FAILED and copies are not deleted in nfs_server->ss_copies, the source state may be passed to the nfs42_complete_copies() process earlier, resulting in this crash scene finally. To solve this issue, we add a list_head nfs_server->ss_src_copies for a server-to-server copy specially. Although all perfmons are destroyed in `v3d_perfmon_close_file()`, the active performance monitor's pointer (`v3d->active_perfmon`) is still retained. If `kmscube` is run again, the driver will attempt to stop the active performance monitor using the stale pointer in `v3d->active_perfmon`. However, this pointer is no longer valid because the previous process has already terminated, and all performance monitors associated with it have been destroyed and freed. To fix this, when the active performance monitor belongs to a given process, explicitly stop it before destroying and freeing it. After a CPU has set itself offline and before it eventually calls rcutree_report_cpu_dead(), there are still opportunities for callbacks to be enqueued, for example from a softirq. When that happens on NOCB, the rcuog wake-up is deferred through an IPI to an online CPU in order not to call into the scheduler and risk arming the RT-bandwidth after hrtimers have been migrated out and disabled. But performing a synchronized IPI from a softirq is buggy as reported in the following scenario: WARNING: CPU: 1 PID: 26 at kernel/smp.c:633 smp_call_function_single Modules linked in: rcutorture torture CPU: 1 UID: 0 PID: 26 Comm: migration/1 Not tainted 6.11.0-rc1-00012-g9139f93209d1 #1 Stopper: multi_cpu_stop+0x0/0x320 <- __stop_cpus+0xd0/0x120 RIP: 0010:smp_call_function_single <IRQ> swake_up_one_online __call_rcu_nocb_wake __call_rcu_common ? rcu_torture_one_read call_timer_fn __run_timers run_timer_softirq handle_softirqs irq_exit_rcu ? tick_handle_periodic sysvec_apic_timer_interrupt </IRQ> Fix this with forcing deferred rcuog wake up through the NOCB timer when the CPU is offline. The actual wake up will happen from rcutree_report_cpu_dead(). This is because is it done very early in the exception and there are not enough registers available to keep a pointer to thread struct. However, dcbz instruction is buggy and doesn't update DAR register on fault. That is detected and generates a call to FixupDAR workaround which updates DAR copy in thread struct but doesn't fix DAR register. Let's fix DAR in addition to the update of DAR copy in thread struct.
