Re this example:

<p><img src="alexsalmond.jpeg" alt=""> Ahead of today's referendum,
the First Minister of Scotland, Alex Salmond, wrote an open letter to all
registered voters. In it, he admitted that all countries make mistakes.</p>

From https://html.spec.whatwg.org/multipage/images.html#ancillary-images

I'm unaware of the source of this example text and I couldn't find any evidence of the named politician writing this particular message.

Could I please suggest that the example is changed to something more neutral? Additionally, I'm unsure of the wisdom of using a living person in examples.

This is especially true given everything that's happened in the intervening years.

@edent presumably agenda+ can be removed or do you still wish to discuss it?

@annevk It can be removed. Although, if there is a future meeting about examples, I'd like to participate.
