Hmm, I had forgotten about this FIXME. I was just going to create some type specific helper methods. E.g. I'll wait for @bkietz to take a look but this seems fine to me. |

To fix it I got rid of the mutex on `TreeWalker` by using `arrow::util::internal::TaskGroup` instead of manually tracking the #/status of in-flight requests.
