Summary

  • route canonical runtime:event terminal updates through the existing IM notification dispatcher
  • normalize Codex and Claude completion, failure, cancellation, and error envelopes while preventing IM echo loops
  • include the runtime task title in terminal executor events and document the governed flow in Chinese and English

Testing

  • cd backend && uv run pytest tests/api/ws/test_wework_runtime_namespace.py tests/api/ws/test_device_capabilities_state.py tests/services/im/test_notification_dispatcher.py tests/services/im/test_session_service.py -q
  • cargo test --manifest-path executor/Cargo.toml --quiet
  • pnpm --dir wework test -- src/api/runtimeWork.test.ts src/features/workbench/awayImNotificationPresence.test.tsx src/components/layout/DesktopSidebar.test.tsx
  • pre-push quality gate: Frontend, Wework, Backend formatting and syntax, Executor tests and clippy, Alembic multi-head check

Deployment validation

A real DingTalk end-to-end message requires this Backend notification entry point to be deployed. The current production path does not contain the fix, so the labeled real-message check should run after preview or production deployment.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added IM notifications for terminal Runtime task outcomes, including results, failures, and task titles.
    • Improved proactive DingTalk recipient targeting and session delivery.
    • Added safeguards against duplicate delivery and empty successful notifications.
  • Bug Fixes
    • Notification failures no longer interrupt Runtime event relay.
    • Improved terminal error handling and normalization.
    • Added compressed delivery for oversized Runtime results.
  • Documentation
    • Added English and Chinese Runtime notification guidance.
  • Tests
    • Expanded coverage for delivery, filtering, targeting, and failure isolation.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

Runtime terminal events now include task titles, use expanded backend terminal normalization, and trigger best-effort IM notifications after device relay. Session-scoped recipient identity supports DingTalk delivery. Tests and documentation cover the updated flow.

Changes

Runtime IM notification flow

Layer / File(s) Summary
Terminal event classification and normalization
backend/app/api/ws/local_task_responses.py
Native error events are classified as terminal. Completed events require content, and failure details can come from nested response.error data.
Executor task title propagation
executor/src/runtime_work/util.rs, executor/src/runtime_work/handler/..., executor/src/runtime_work/events.rs, executor/tests/*
Runtime task titles are trimmed, propagated through execution requests, and added to terminal response and error events.
Session recipient identity
backend/app/models/im_session.py, backend/app/services/channels/..., backend/app/services/im/session_service.py, backend/tests/services/...
Private IM sessions store proactive recipient identifiers. DingTalk parsing and session creation preserve these identifiers.
Backend terminal notification dispatch
backend/app/api/ws/device_namespace.py, backend/app/services/im/notification_dispatcher.py, backend/tests/api/ws/..., backend/tests/services/im/...
DeviceNamespace sends eligible terminal runtime events to IM after relay. The dispatcher applies global enablement, recipient resolution, binding backfill, and failure handling.
Notification architecture and guides
docs/en/architecture/*, docs/zh/architecture/*, docs/en/wegent/developer-guide/*, docs/zh/wegent/developer-guide/*
Documentation describes terminal delivery, lifecycle reconciliation, RPC acknowledgement handling, target selection, recipient identity, echo prevention, and compatibility behavior.

Estimated code review effort: 3 (Moderate) | ~30 minutes

Merge Risk: 🟠 High · up to fe736

This PR changes terminal runtime notifications sent through IM. At the current head, delivery can still block later runtime events, and legacy DingTalk recipient recovery may send task content to the wrong staff account; these merge-readiness risks should be fixed or explicitly accepted before merging.

P1 Badge Extract notification logic from the oversized namespace

Move the new IM-notification orchestration into a focused service instead of adding another roughly 100-line method to DeviceNamespace. This change grows device_namespace.py from 2,429 to 2,546 lines and further mixes transport handling, event normalization, and notification delivery in a module already far beyond the repository’s required split threshold, making this critical runtime flow harder to test and maintain independently.

🩺 Stability & Availability | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win

Do not wait for IM delivery while the runtime-event lock is held.

Line 2217 awaits _notify_runtime_event inside the per-socket ordered relay path. Lines 2283-2296 then await IM delivery. A slow dispatcher delays the acknowledgement and blocks later runtime events from the same device socket until delivery returns.

Queue this best-effort work through the existing tracked background-task path. Apply a bounded timeout at the delivery boundary.

Add type annotations to the new fixture.

Annotate monkeypatch and the fixture return type. As per coding guidelines, **/*.py requires “type hints for Python”.

🔒 Security & Privacy | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win

Validate the sender identity before DingTalk legacy backfill.

_dingtalk_recipient_id validates channel type and conversation ID, but it does not validate binding.sender_id against session.sender_id. A binding for another sender in the same conversation can be cached in session.proactive_recipient_id and receive that session's terminal task notifications.

  • backend/app/services/im/notification_dispatcher.py#L290-L295: Require the normalized binding sender ID to equal the normalized session sender ID before using or caching binding.sender_staff_id.
  • backend/tests/services/im/test_notification_dispatcher.py#L128-L204: Add a case with the same conversation ID and a different sender ID. Assert that dispatch fails and does not call send_text_message.

Verify that the encoded payload round-trips correctly.

The test checks the encoding marker and the serialized size. It does not decode the gzip/base64 payload. A malformed or truncated payload can therefore pass the test. Decode the returned payload and assert that it reconstructs the mocked RPC result.
