Summary

  • resolve Windows local connector and managed-tool paths from the explicit executor home instead of requiring the Unix-only HOME variable
  • preserve browser OAuth callback output and session state, stop the authorization spinner after terminal failures, and expose retryable diagnostics
  • wait for local plugin installation and connector availability before starting authorization, while keeping marketplace card and installed-strip state consistent
  • upgrade the bundled DingTalk DWS CLI from 1.0.54 to 1.0.58 for the corrected Windows OAuth persistence flow

Root cause

Windows GUI processes commonly do not expose HOME, so the local connector resolver could fail before DWS launched the browser. The authorization UI could also restart or outlive the local auth session, losing the browser callback or leaving the dialog spinning after a terminal error.

Installation and authorization were separate asynchronous flows. Starting authorization before the local connector became available caused a race, while progressive marketplace refreshes could temporarily retain the card's optimistic installed hint without the corresponding installed row.

The bundled DWS 1.0.54 did not include the final Windows credential-persistence handling. This PR now bundles DWS 1.0.58, and the companion DingTalk plugin PR polls the persisted authenticated state after the OAuth callback.

Validation

  • Windows acceptance test with the locally installed DingTalk plugin 0.2.9 and bundled DWS 1.0.58: browser OAuth completed and the persisted login state was recognized
  • focused executor local connector authorization tests
  • focused Wework plugin UI and marketplace state tests
  • pnpm --filter wework e2e:desktop:plugins
  • GitHub Repository Policy, Lint, Tests, Platform E2E, Wework E2E, and CodeRabbit checks passed

Companion plugin change: wecode-ai/wework-plugins#6

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Marketplace plugin listings now preserve installation status during catalog refreshes.
    • Authentication dialogs show clearer errors and offer retry options.
    • Active authentication sessions are reused when dialogs reopen.
    • Local plugin installation now waits for executor availability and reports sync timeouts.
  • Bug Fixes

    • Improved executor home-directory resolution and authentication cancellation handling.
    • Marketplace installation flows now wait for installation results.
    • Health checks can bypass cached results when a fresh status is needed.
  • Tests

    • Added coverage for authentication, installation state, availability checks, and marketplace flows.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The changes centralize executor-home resolution, reuse active browser authorization sessions, retain installed marketplace state during catalog refreshes, add local connector availability polling, and improve authorization error handling. Tests cover session lifecycle, cache bypassing, installation timing, and marketplace state reconciliation.

Changes

Executor and browser authorization

Layer / File(s) Summary
Executor home and active session reuse
executor/src/runtime_work/local_connector_auth.rs, executor/src/runtime_work/local_connector_auth/tools.rs
Executor-home lookup uses WEGENT_EXECUTOR_HOME, then the platform home with .wegent-executor. Browser authorization reuses a matching active session. Tests cover both behaviors.

Marketplace installed-state retention

Layer / File(s) Summary
Installed-state retention contract and reconciliation
wework/src/components/plugins/retainMarketplaceInstallHints.ts, wework/src/components/plugins/retainMarketplaceInstallHints.test.ts
The new helper preserves installed marketplace rows, avoids duplicate IDs, reconciles marketplace items, and clears stale state.
Catalog refresh integration
wework/src/components/plugins/PluginsWorkspace.tsx, wework/e2e/desktop/modules/plugin-flows.mjs
Catalog refresh paths retain installed state before applying in-flight installation holdback. The end-to-end flow waits for both marketplace and installed-plugin views.

Local connector authorization

Layer / File(s) Summary
Authorization availability polling and installation synchronization
wework/src/features/plugins/waitForLocalConnectorAuthAvailability.ts, wework/src/features/plugins/waitForLocalConnectorAuthAvailability.test.ts, wework/src/api/local/localConnectorAuth.ts, wework/src/api/local/localConnectorAuth.test.ts, wework/src/components/plugins/PluginsWorkspace.tsx
Health probes bypass cache by default. Missing-plugin errors are retried. Other errors propagate, and exhaustion raises LocalConnectorPluginSyncTimeoutError. Installation waits for authorization availability.
Authorization session lifecycle and error display
wework/src/features/plugins/useLocalConnectorAuthSession.ts, wework/src/components/plugins/LocalConnectorAuthDialog.tsx, wework/src/components/plugins/LocalConnectorAuthDialog.test.tsx
Cancellation tracking preserves sessions across dialog remounts. String startup errors remain visible. The dialog renders one status message with distinct error and loading states.
Workspace authorization test wiring
wework/src/components/plugins/PluginsWorkspace.test.tsx
Workspace tests mock local health requests, local connector metadata, cache isolation, and delayed authorization availability.

Estimated code review effort: 4 (Complex) | ~45 minutes

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to 68683

The change can restore marketplace entries from a previous account and allows overlapping authorization attempts to interfere with one another, while a test fixture may still fail type checking and some authorization errors are not announced to screen readers. The current head needs owner follow-up before merge.

Finish the test-only cleanup.

Please assert that the rendered authorization error includes text-destructive. Also update the installedItem helper in retainMarketplaceInstallHints.test.ts to use a const arrow function, matching repository style.

Make browser-session reuse atomic.

active_browser_auth_state releases BROWSER_AUTH_SESSIONS before start_browser_auth inserts its new session. If two matching requests run concurrently, both can observe no active session. The later request then removes and aborts the session returned to the first request at Lines 568-579.

Reserve or create the session in the same BROWSER_AUTH_SESSIONS critical section as the active-session lookup. Add a concurrent-start test that asserts both callers receive the same sessionId.

Keep cancellation state with the start invocation.

cancelRequestedRef is shared across starts and resets at Line 127. If a user cancels while localConnectorAuthStart is pending, then retries or remounts before that request resolves, the new start resets the flag. The stale request then passes Line 136 without cancelling its returned session. This can leave a browser authorization session running after the user cancelled it.

Track cancellation by operation generation, or serialize cancellation and restart. Do not let a later start clear the cancellation state of an earlier pending start. Add a regression test for cancel, immediate retry or remount, then delayed start completion.

Scope retained state to the active marketplace cache key.

These four retention calls pass pluginMarketplaceStateRef.current and installedPluginsRef.current without verifying marketplaceCacheKeyValue. During an account switch, the refs can still contain the previous account while the current cache is empty or loading. retainMarketplaceInstalledState can then reintroduce previous-account marketplace rows or installed-strip entries.

Use a cache-key-scoped snapshot, or refs that store and validate their cache key, for previousItems and previousInstalled in all four paths. Do not use the unscoped refs as fallbacks. Add an account-switch regression test that checks both catalog cards and installed-strip entries.

This repeats the previous account-switch finding in the review context.
