What we usually recommend to first time contributors to the project is to go through:

1. Setting up the development environment
2. And then create a hint step by step

If something is not clear or wrong in the docs please file and issue and we will work on that. We can also add the Hacktoberfest tag to those new issues in case you want to fix it along the way to get more closed 🙂.
