External Attribute - "Input DataX" is not correct error messsage for multi-attribute input

Trying to add an external attribute script with multiple inputs to an empty attribute set produces an error dialog like this:

Can be worked around by adding an external attribute script with a single input before adding the multi-input attribute script but the input attribute selections are initially messed up and have to be reset.
