[Frontend] Fix the parsing of missing string= in DeepSeek V4 - #56271
Conversation
DeepSeek's DSML annotates each parameter with string="true" (literal) or
string="false" (JSON). The parameter regexes required that attribute, so a
parameter emitted without it matched nothing and was dropped: the tool call
reached the client with {} for arguments.
An agent reads an argument-less call as a failed one and issues it again, so
a single dropped parameter turns into a retry loop that runs to max_tokens.
Captured in production on DeepSeek-V4-Flash: responses of 32000 tokens made
up of hundreds of tool_use blocks with empty input.
Make the attribute optional and treat its absence as string="false": try
JSON, fall back to the literal text. Annotated parameters parse exactly as
before; across 466 parameters in a captured production response the old and
the new regex match the same set.
The V4.1 parser duplicated the regexes with its spaced markers, so build
both dialects from one helper to keep the fix in a single place. V3.2
shares the V4 regexes and is covered as well.

…ribute The Rust DSML parser shared by the deepseek_v32, deepseek_v4 and deepseek_v41 tool parsers required string="true|false" on every parameter. A parameter without it failed the whole invoke, the unified parser fell back to plain text and the entire DSML block leaked into the content field with no tool call at all. Make the attribute optional, mirroring the Python parsers: a missing or non-"true" value is treated like string="false" and converted through the tool schema. Purpose
As discussed with @sfeng33 in #54686, this PR standalone fixes the parsing of missing
string=. Claude notices that the Rust frontend also lacks the fix and adds it.V4.1 was fixed already today but V4 was left out.
