Hello, am I really the only one who noticed the trouble with bootstrap 3.0.0 on the new internet explorer 11? All my sites look pretty messy (even the getbootstrap.com site is completely messed up). Does anyone have a solution for this? I know, I'm not the biggest fan of MSIE either, but... it's preinstalled in Windows 8.1 :-(

Running IE 11 on my Windows 8.1 PC - everything works great. Maybe some kinda addon for IE?

ftbastler actually not one single add-on ... just installed windows 8.1 pro from scratch, everything leaved as default. This installation is as clean as can be. Screen resolution 1366x768 (max i could choose on my laptop). A friend of me has a HP "all-in-one" PC (somewhat bigger than 23"), he has upgraded to windows 8.1 yesterday, he has the same problem :'(

Just tested it on my other desktop. Installed yesterday from scratch win8.1pro -> even here : same problem.

Are you sure your javacript is turned on? That page in question is using the affix and the layout would behave very oddly. Perhaps there's a problem with an install that's not factory installed. Just guessing.

Naw, that wouldn't be it. But look at your settings anyway.

Even the homepage without the affix is odd. The install is quite sure factory install. No pre-installation from a computer vendor. Just bought Windows 8.1 on DVD, install using express settings, start MSIE and there's the problem. Now trying internet options - advanced - reset ie settings - check delete personal settings - restart computer ... pretty much reset factory default ? Nope, same problem. Also check bootstrap homepage:

It's happening on Google too with SOME installs. See if the fix is here:

Thankfully, one user on Google’s forum has found a workaround that fixes the issue. In IE11, click on Tools and choose Compatibility View Settings. Uncheck “Use Microsoft Compatibility lists” and Google’s search engine should work again.

Microsoft offers Compatibility View in IE8 and above to help newer versions of its browser load older websites that still expect previous versions of IE. The company maintains a list of websites that aren’t rendering properly in the new browser version, so that IE can switch to Compatibility View mode and load them correctly.

What appears to be happening here is that Google’s search engine has somehow been added to IE11′s Compatibility View list. Furthermore, IE11′s Compatibility View renders it incorrectly, even though older versions of IE all currently load Google properly. As a result, disabling this feature temporarily fixes the problem.

We say “temporarily” because this is not a permanent fix. IE11 shouldn’t need Compatibility view to load Google properly, and users of course should have to change any settings. What is surprising is that this problem did not occur in beta and preview releases of Windows 8.1 with IE11. It’s also not happening for everyone, adding more confusion to the mix.

This is unfortunate as it means many users who are upgrading to Windows 8.1 are getting a very poor experience with IE11. The browser may work fine on Bing and other websites, but chances are most users will head to Google at some point.

MicroSuck strikes again. I'm glad I didn't see any errors like this. I would have freaked out.

<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge">

This is not on the current, live website.

Is it supposed to be there or be gone?

I checked sites with and w/o this meta tag in IE11 and they are all fine, for me.

@carasmo That's been added in master, and is indeed not in production yet, but is about to be today.

Yes, but that won't fix this IE11 issue. It's a sporadic issue on Microsoft's end with certain installs of 8.1 with IE11...

"For many users, certain Web sites don't display properly. One solution offered by Microsoft is to turn on Compatibility View [the users do this, not the webmasters] to see if the sites in question render correctly. A Microsoft page called "Problems after installing Internet Explorer 11" offers other options to fix specific issues in IE 11."

See Cnet link 3 back...

YES, this seems to fix my sites:
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge">
My site is rendering fine now.

Caramo: that Microsoft patch didn't fix the problem either.
Anyway, this will be a big problem for a lot of people. For example, check the Hotmail site.
But luckily that's not really my problem, as long as my customers do not complain, I'm happy :-)

Thanks for the meta solution !!!

Just yesterday I started messing with IE11 and was grateful that it was behaving smoothly in the theme I'm making. So when I saw your post in the inbox, I was very curious. It's a shame.

Wait, I'm confused. What did the workaround/fix for this end up being?

....Whilst in IE11, press ALT+X, navigate to Compatibility View Settings and uncheck 'Use Microsoft compatibility lists'.

Or it could be:

<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge,chrome=1">

I never had a problem with BS3 before or after this addition. But I didn't visit BS3 with IE11 before that, so maybe it was a combination of caching the old stuff or something. I really don't know, I never had an issue in IE11 and thought that finally, they stopped smoking weed over there and made a decent browser. But I see from reading about other's issues, that appears to be not the case.
