The meta key is a reserved modifier on non-mac machines, usually limited to window-manager specific tasks, and not available to (web)applications.
This PR implements OS-dependent differences between the registered keybindings, allowing the commonly-used meta modifier on mac to be used, but used with ctrl on other systems.
