I'd suggest using either STDIN or stdin (with backticks).

I think we've previously chosen to lowercase stdin in the majority of pages. But I'll update it to use backticks.

@pxgamer make sense. Let's merge this one as-is and standardize stdin/stdout in a new PR :)

Update: #3114


`git check-ignore --stdin < {{path/to/file_list}}`

- Do not check the index (used to debug why paths were tracked and not ignored):

`git check-ignore --no-index {{path/to/files_or_directories}}`

- Include details about the matching pattern for each path:

`git check-ignore --verbose {{path/to/files_or_directories}}`
