AWS SDK JavaScript v3 NodeHttpHandler default requestTimeout connectionTimeout values
💡 Result:
In the AWS SDK for JavaScript v3, the NodeHttpHandler default values for both connectionTimeout and requestTimeout are 0, which disables these timeouts [1][2][3]. Detailed information on these settings: 1. connectionTimeout: The maximum time, in milliseconds, that the connection phase of a request may take before the attempt is abandoned [1]. A value of 0 indicates that there is no timeout [1]. 2. requestTimeout: The maximum number of milliseconds a request and response should take [1]. Similar to connectionTimeout, a default value of 0 means the timeout is disabled [1][2]. 3. socketTimeout: While often used in similar contexts, this is considered deprecated in favor of requestTimeout [2][3]. It refers to the maximum time a socket may remain idle before being closed, and also defaults to 0 (disabled) [1]. Because these default to 0 (disabled), the SDK will wait indefinitely for a connection or a response unless these values are explicitly configured by the user [1][4].

AWS SDK JavaScript v3 NodeHttpHandler default values 0 no timeout
💡 Result:
In the AWS SDK for JavaScript v3, the NodeHttpHandler default values for timeout-related options are set to 0, which signifies that no timeout is applied [1][2][3]. Specifically, the following settings in NodeHttpHandlerOptions default to 0: - connectionTimeout: The maximum time in milliseconds allowed to establish a connection. A value of 0 disables this timeout [1][4]. - requestTimeout: The maximum number of milliseconds the total request and response cycle may take. A value of 0 disables this timeout [1][2][4]. - socketTimeout: The maximum time in milliseconds a socket may remain idle before being closed. A value of 0 means there is no maximum (no timeout) [1][4]. Because these default to 0, the SDK will not automatically terminate requests or connections based on these time constraints unless you explicitly configure a non-zero value [1][2]. If you intend to enforce specific time limits, you should provide these options when instantiating the NodeHttpHandler [5][6].

Bound the payload blob fetch on the shared S3 client.
getLogPayload() is awaited by the log detail request, but packages/shared/src/payload-storage.ts creates the shared S3Client without a NodeHttpHandler, so a slow/hung object store can stall GET /logs/:id indefinitely instead of triggering the existing fallback to payloadUnavailable. Add connectionTimeout, requestTimeout, and a small maxAttempts there so every read/write path using this client is bound.

Keep object-storage credentials out of the gateway.
The documented flow has the worker upload blobs and the API hydrate them. Injecting S3 credentials into the gateway unnecessarily grants a compromised gateway access to retained payloads. Configure these only for the roles that access object storage.

Exclude toolResults from list queries.
toolResults remains in listLogColumns. Legacy and storage-disabled rows can therefore return the complete tool output in every list response. This defeats the detail-only projection and can retain a large payload in the query.

Mark the payload unavailable when storage is disabled.
If a row has payloadRef but PAYLOAD_STORAGE_S3_BUCKET is unset, this condition skips hydration and leaves payloadUnavailable false. The response then presents truncated previews as complete payload data without any warning.

Delete payload blobs at the organization retention boundary.
Enterprise documentation supports custom retention periods, including periods shorter than 30 days. However, packages/shared/src/log-retention.ts fixes cleanup at 30 days, and apps/worker/src/worker.ts clears only the database payloadRef. The worker does not issue an object-storage delete. A successful 30-day bucket lifecycle rule therefore leaves a payload blob recoverable in object storage after a shorter organization retention period has expired.
Delete the payload object when cleanup processes the row, and use the same effective retention setting for the database cutoff. Keep the lifecycle rule as a backstop, and do not mark the row cleaned until the object deletion succeeds. A successful lifecycle-rule setup alone does not correct this duration mismatch.

Require successful lifecycle-rule setup before bootstrap succeeds.
Ignoring mc ilm rule add failures marks bootstrap as successful without the required expiry rule. Payload blobs can then remain past the intended retention period.

Preserve a boolean forcePathStyle: false override.
Helm treats boolean false as empty, so default "true" renders "true" when an operator sets forcePathStyle: false. The shared client therefore never receives "false". Remove this default, since values.yaml already provides the default value.

Large retained request and response payloads add PostgreSQL storage and write overhead. This adds optional S3-compatible payload storage: the worker uploads compressed payloads, keeps previews in PostgreSQL, and the log detail API retrieves the full payload or reports its unavailability.
