Gifcast

A tiny script that records a region of your screen and outputs it to a .gif file.

Installation:

  • Copy the gifcast file in your $PATH;
  • ????
  • Profit!

Usage:

  • Run gifcast in a terminal window.
  • You'll be prompted to select an area of your screen. After selecting, the area inside your selection is being recorded
  • To stop, open the terminal window you started the script from and press q.
  • The gif file should be in ~/Videos/gifcast_%DATE%.gif.

In case you need it, there is a temp .avi copy of the recording - /tmp/outXXXXXXXXXX.avi
