WalkthroughThe Next.js webpack configuration helpers now accept a webpack instance and use its plugin constructors. The preset obtains the instance from the builder executor and passes it to both helpers. ChangesNext.js webpack configuration
Priority: ➖ Normal Merge Risk: ⚪ Minimal · up to The change passes the builder’s Webpack instance through to the configuration helpers, and the updated test checks the supplied plugin constructor. No concrete merge-blocking risk remains. ✨ Finishing Touches 💡 1

What I did
The Next.js Webpack framework constructed
ProvidePluginandDefinePluginfrom its ownwebpackresolution. If the builder resolves another Webpack installation, those plugins create dependency objects that the builder's parser cannot read. The preview then fails withCannot use 'in' operator to search for 'start' in undefinedeven though both installations satisfy Webpack 5.Use the builder's selected Webpack instance for those framework plugins. The preset loads the Next.js config directly at startup, then gets the builder instance once for the real config and polyfill setup. Tests cover plugin provenance from the selected compiler.

Replacing only@storybook/nextjs/distwith this branch's build removed them without changing either Webpack version. The original story's Nodeconsoleimport remains a separate browser fallback requirement. After applying that host fallback, dev and production builds served 3,512 stories andbutton--baserendered in Chromium.
