CLI: Keep React Native stories on #.storybook/preview - #36623
Conversation
Native init and the CSF factories codemod must emit the documented specifier so Metro can alias it when the config directory is .rnstorybook.
The configure return type requires it, which is what typescript-validation rejected.
Init writes preview.tsx and preview.jsx for React, and the factories codemod must keep the documented specifier when .storybook sits beside .rnstorybook.

Closes #
What I did
A story shared by React Native and React Native Web can only contain one preview import. This PR makes generated and codemodded stories use the documented CSF Next specifier:
Metro already aliases that specifier to
.rnstorybook/previewon device (React Native repo, not this PR). Vite does not alias it, sopackage.jsonimportsmust point the same specifier at the web preview. The entry is written on the primarypackage.json, relative to that file.imports["#.storybook/preview"]#.storybook/preview./.rnstorybook/preview.tsx#.storybook/preview./.storybook/preview.tsx, or.jsxfor JavaScriptAdding React Native Web later does not require editing stories. Metro keeps aliasing the specifier to the native preview. Vite follows the imports map to the web preview.
The CSF factories codemod forces that specifier in two cases: the config dir is
.rnstorybook, or.rnstorybooksits next to the config dir. The second case is a dual project migrated from the default.storybookdirectory, which would otherwise still offer a relative import. If a web preview already exists beside.rnstorybook, the imports target stays on that web file.New stories created from the UI keep
#.storybook/previewwhen the preview file is under.rnstorybook, even whenpackage.jsonhas no imports map yet.Not in this PR: a TypeScript
pathsentry, docs, and rewriting stories that already import.rnstorybook/previewwith a relative path.Checklist for Contributors

Caution
This section is mandatory for all contributions. If you believe no manual test is necessary, please state so explicitly. Thanks!
.rnstorybook, runstorybook automigrate csf-factories --config-dir .rnstorybook --yes.import preview from '#.storybook/preview'and should not contain a relative.rnstorybook/previewimport.package.json.imports["#.storybook/preview"]should point at that package's.rnstorybook/preview.tsx..storybook/preview.tsx(or.jsx), run the same command against.rnstorybook. Stories should still import#.storybook/preview, and the imports target should be the.storybookpreview, not.rnstorybook.storybook automigrate csf-factories --config-dir .storybook --yes. The command should not ask whether to use relative imports. Stories should import#.storybook/preview, and the imports target should stay on the.storybookpreview../.rnstorybook/preview.tsx. The dual app should map it to./.storybook/preview.tsx(TypeScript) or./.storybook/preview.jsx(JavaScript), which is the preview file init writes.Worth extra scrutiny: a monorepo where the primary
package.jsonis not in the same directory as.rnstorybook. The imports target must be relative to the package that owns theimportsfield and must start with./. If the preview file is outside that package, stories keep a relative import and no imports entry is written.Documentation
