When depending spring-context, I want to be able to pull configuration out of YAML files like I could be able to with *.properties files.

Any chance to backport this 4.0.x line?

Current 4.0.x status is that only critical fixes can be integrated in order to avoid regressions, so it will be only available starting 4.1.x (BTW, this issue is the duplicate of #14530). Thanks.

As described in http://docs.spring.io/spring/docs/4.1.0.BUILD-SNAPSHOT/javadoc-api/org/springframework/beans/factory/config/YamlPropertiesFactoryBean.html it's easy to have per environment properties.
In Boot it's easy to use certain environment by using a profile.
How should we do that in Spring (without Boot)?

Besides that I think it's good to document it the Spring user guide. Current snapshot docs have no reference to Yaml based configuration.
