We should update the documentation to have better MultipartFilter documentation. Some of the things that come to mind are the fact that the StandardServletMultipartResolver does not seem to work in Jetty even when the <multipart> configuration is included on the Servlet.

If there is no Servlet, there are workarounds like Tomcat's allowCasualMultipartParsing attribute here http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-7.0-doc/config/context.html#Attributes

The servlet spec is silent on multipart request processing in Filters. I've created (SERVLET_SPEC-87) to report it.
