Allow ref= as well as <bean/> for mvc:interceptor/. It's a nice feature (to get all handlers injected with the same interceptors), but it makes the interceptors hard to override.

Hiya,

I would like to see simialar support for the MessageConverter sub-element under mvc:annotation-driven. As it stands, you're compelled to defined MessageConverters using <bean> elements, inline. It would be ideal if I could simply reference MessageConverters defined elsewhere.

just realized that this JIRA was for 3.0.5 -- the message-converters support isn't due until 3.1, so perhaps this might be better as a seperate JIRA?

Josh, I recommend using the new Java-based configuration in Spring 3.1 M2. I've added the ref for interceptors because they're much more likely to be needed in XML configuration outside of the namespace elements. If your use case is Java-based configuration just use the Java config.

There is no support for referencing a bean definition of an existing message converter in the mvc:message-converters element, like was added for mvc:interceptor
