Departments are usually split up into smaller teams, which i belive is also the reason the department managers are not set as the managers of every user in that department automatically. Different situations require you to speak to either the user, their direct superior ( 'manager' set in user) or the department's manager ( 'manager' set in department settings). In the current state, there is no easy way (that i am aware of) to get information about the department's manager from the user menu.
Describe the solution you'd like
Add a new row in user details and a new toggleable column in user overview called Department Manager, below/next to Department, displaying the name and providing a direct link to the manager of said user's department.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Add the department manager to the overview of the department (/departments/ID). I believe this to be a valuable change, but I don't think it can replace the ease of use of adding it directly to the user view as described above.
