I have a french translation of a news page with a list of articles where my breadcrumb works fine and an english translation of a news page with no articles where the translated breadcrumb throws PHP notices. The first commit avoid the PHP notices, but my english breadcrumb no longer match the orginal.
I’ll try to improve this pull request in the next hours.

I just understand that I cannot call get_post_type() in breadcrumb.php at line 320 because I haven’t any posts on my news page but I’m not able to find where to avoid this to have a breadcrumb like “Home > News”.
