Scope

Preserve PR #508's unique user directions, historical full-stack arm and review corrections in a dated retirement record. Later selection directives supersede the proposed stack winner; after this record merges, the coordinator closes #508 unmerged and keeps its branch and pinned head.

  • Base commit: 9b0b8d6d25f9e3fb8f71770500e774170423315e (the source-review and build base).
  • Lane: lane:foundation.
  • Owned paths touched: docs/decisions/2026-10-03-retire-pr508-token-stack-winner.md and manifests/evidence.json.
  • Publication base: 4ced2923063db6a6dcafa9f25af5ee05a4153c75 (published main at integration and push, AGENTS.md: drop "(lands with unit F3)" now that the skill lifecycle guide is on main #636), one commit past the build base. It changed only the AGENTS.md lifecycle-guide parenthesis at line 26 and that file's registry entry; AGENTS.md:3 and every other line cited in this body are identical at both SHAs. The content commit was rebased onto it, the registry commit was rebuilt from its manifest by re-registering only the new record, and both report generators and the validators were rerun on the integrated head c3dc72ed11e7eaf7a89ebb11d7a7b93796a7e7a4 (see "Integrated-head checks"). The results under "Local commands run" stay bound to the build base.
  • Review round (2026-10-03): the independent Opus review of c3dc72ed11e7eaf7a89ebb11d7a7b93796a7e7a4 returned repair. Content commit bfe89e4b8 applies its findings, and registry commit 4226310fa re-registers the edited record on the same publication base. The head is now 4226310fa79e293380fbc2b132f27ad794ba269e. See "Review round" for each finding's disposition and the checks run on this head.
  • No selection, verdict, catalog, pin, profile, carrier, install or host operation changes. Both native report generators ran and their outputs remain byte-identical to the base.

SOTA sources

Maintained canonical source: seathatflowsinourveins/native-agent-stack at the build base. All main path/line citations were checked at that SHA:

  • docs/decisions/2026-10-01-new-wsl-architecture-edition.md:87–88, 92–114: the user's merit rule, token-efficiency comparison_required, the accepted profile as one arm, and the lean arm's equal standing at :110; durable-memory context at :101–107.
  • docs/decisions/2026-10-01-definitive-sota-wsl-program.md:119–131, 234, 236: one default per slot, open durable-memory and token-efficiency comparisons, and install versus merit acceptance.
  • docs/decisions/2026-10-01-new-wsl-definitive-defaults.md:78–79, 292–305: no context-supply layer. The ccusage discrepancy at :78 and :292 is retained for the configuration owner without choosing either wording.
  • docs/decisions/2026-10-02-two-host-north-star-architecture.md:162: the Mac/workstation token-efficiency row.

  • evidence/artifacts/macos-token-pins-20260926/README.md:18–19 and evidence/artifacts/mac-stage1-client-layer-20260927/README.md:1, 414–433, 665–678: the pin checks and the 2026-09-27 Stage 1 source-review narrative (Stage 1 client-layer evidence: claude-code and codex receipts on mac-coordinator-64gb-20260925 (#382) #391) do not qualify the Mac RTK 0.50.0 hook wiring, and the narrative's coverage summary predates the 2026-09-29 Mac check.
  • docs/lanes.md:94–141, 145–150, docs/acceptance-evidence-policy.md, .github/pull_request_template.md, scripts/host_receipts.py, scripts/component_matrix.py and scripts/new_host_grand_list.py: the maintained registration and publication protocol, reused unchanged.

Evidence-class table

Claim Evidence class Command / receipt
The preserved user directions, six historical decisions, stack membership and later supersession reading source_review Pinned #508 head and canonical records above; supersession is 0c's interpretation, not the user's words
Mac RTK 0.50.0 hook qualification is withdrawn; jCodeMunch stays project-scoped; September 29 Mac coverage has no returned report source_review The three preserved review threads, Mac 0.49.0 use receipt, Linux 0.50.0 qualification receipt and scoped evidence search
Historical tool-call counts measure adoption only source_review of retained local_integration evidence/artifacts/token-stack-cards-20260927/invoke-by-tool.json; RTK 192/1,010 workflow children and 150/301 Codex exec workers
-76 item 3 is not bound by #570's receipt source_review of an unreceipted local_integration lead The comment describes a local paired comparison: 166 trials of the full configuration against a native-minimal profile and a 207-trial add-on batch on SWE-bench Lite; evidence/receipts/harbor-e2e-token-tools-20260930.json records a separate 288-trial run on 36 SWE-bench Verified tasks. Matching a rounded RTK ratio does not match trial provenance
Only the new record is registered; no report, existing receipt or convergence pin changes local_integration (structural) Native registration/generator commands and working-tree inspection; 26 convergence records and 19 experiment files inspected, no changed-file pin
Registry integrity and retained routing/adoption contracts pass local_integration (structural) Commands below; no new upstream test, provider execution, host acceptance or benefit claim

Local commands run

Commands below are the actual native invocations; private scratch stdout/stderr redirection filenames are omitted. Full returned output and exit codes are retained with the builder handoff. The privacy grep below writes its pattern as adjacent quoted pieces, which the shell joins into the original pattern, so this body does not match its own scan.

The record also passed a value-free scan for the private host user name, home-path expansions and client-configuration quote markers (exit 1, no matches). All four contract-specified unique-string searches returned no hits at the build base (exit 1 each). The unittest stdout's malformed-manifest messages are intentional fixture controls; the suite ended OK.

Integrated-head checks (head c3dc72e, superseded by the review round)

These results are bound to the earlier head and its 20,194-byte record. "Review round" below gives the checks on 4226310fa79e293380fbc2b132f27ad794ba269e. Run by the publisher on the pushed head c3dc72ed11e7eaf7a89ebb11d7a7b93796a7e7a4 (the content commit, then the registry commit, on 4ced2923063db6a6dcafa9f25af5ee05a4153c75). Each command ran natively with its output kept in a file, and each exit code was read directly, never through a pipe. Full returned output is retained with the publisher.

Hosted required checks on the review-round head 4226310fa79e293380fbc2b132f27ad794ba269e, read once right after the push: 8 required contexts, all pending. validate-macos was queued; validate, secret-scan, sota-sources, osv-scanner, token-report, verdict-review-gate and dependency-review were in progress. The coordinator must confirm that every required context passes on the final head, sota-sources included. If the head moves again, the coordinator reruns the committed-diff acceptance commands. The merge pins that reviewed head with --match-head-commit.

Review round

The independent Opus/max fact review of head c3dc72ed11e7eaf7a89ebb11d7a7b93796a7e7a4 returned repair with seven findings: one should-fix and six minor. This round applied the first six. It handled the seventh as verification steps and coordinator residuals. The repair head is 4226310fa79e293380fbc2b132f27ad794ba269e: content commit bfe89e4b8, then registry commit 4226310fa, on the unchanged base 4ced2923063db6a6dcafa9f25af5ee05a4153c75. The record is now 21,068 bytes, sha256 7227ae704e43ed5978125db2e27318eb850cd4314468814f5bc0cfaa0aa673a7. Record line numbers below are at the repair head. Every changed claim was re-read at 9b0b8d6d and is unchanged at 4ced2923.

# Finding Disposition
1 should-fix: the Stage 1 narrative was called "later" than the 2026-09-29 check Applied, with adapted wording. :175 and :185–190 now date the narrative 2026-09-27 (#391). Its only commit is f68d13c08, and its README.md:1 title carries the date. The record now also cites the narrative's coverage section, README.md:414–433, as a permalink at 9b0b8d6d. The suggested phrase "keeps no adoption_status.py output" was not used, because README.md:414–433 does summarize, in prose, the fields of an earlier adoption_status.py --profile token-efficiency --client-wiring --json run. The record says instead that the section states no exit status or script revision, and that the artifact directory keeps no returned JSON (git ls-tree at 9b0b8d6d lists only README.md). The untested conclusion stands and matches thread 4135292986's own fix: "add a sanitized receipt with the command result or label the state untested".
2 minor: "exploratory" is not the -76 comment's word Applied at :199–201, :207, :245 and :251, and in this body's evidence-class row and residuals line. The new wording follows item 3 of issuecomment-5893854484: "A local paired comparison by the token-landscape study", "Full configuration against a native-minimal profile, 166 trials" and "Add-on batch, 207 trials". grep -c -i exploratory on the comment returned 0 (exit 1).
3 minor: supported installation is not at AGENTS.md:3 Applied at :146–149. The record cites AGENTS.md:3 for the source-of-truth and upstream-harness rules. It cites AGENTS.md:12 for "the supported installation and native test commands of the selected upstream revision". Both are permalinks at 9b0b8d6d, and between 9b0b8d6d and 4ced2923 AGENTS.md changes only at line 26. The SOTA sources entry now reads AGENTS.md:3, 12.
4 minor: "dates the configuration-level evidence" Applied at :143–145: "limits the agentmemory result to configuration-level evidence, not a production head-to-head". The source is the edition's :101–107 at 9b0b8d6d, where :103–104 read "That result is configuration-level evidence, not a production head-to-head".
5 minor: the jCodeMunch gap lost its Mac scope Applied at :111: "installed on the Mac but wired into neither client there". The source is #508 head line 36: "wired into neither client on this Mac".
6 minor: Headroom labeled as a conditional member Applied in the SOTA sources table: "on-demand historical member". #508 head lines 92–101 list Headroom among the on-demand members, and line 86 makes jCodeMunch the conditional member. The coordinator brief asked that ### SOTA sources stay byte-for-byte. This round read that as the exact heading the gate matches (.github/workflows/sota-sources-gate.yml:36), and the heading is unchanged. The section's content changed in three places: this row, the added AGENTS.md:12 citation, and the added Stage 1 README.md:1, 414–433 citation.
7 minor: verification gaps Accepted; no content defect. (a) The push re-triggered the required checks on 4226310fa. Read right after the push, all 8 contexts were pending. (b) validate.py and the contract's unittest set were rerun on the repair head; the results are below. (c) #654 and #655 are OPEN and unmerged, and origin/main is still 4ced2923, so no rebase or merge was needed. If either sibling merges first, this PR needs a re-registration under the hot-file protocol, and that moves the head. (d) #508 is OPEN at b7fcc2196, with updatedAt still 2026-10-03T08:22:05Z. A read-only scan of the coordination folder covered the 227 files changed since the publisher's 12:30:05Z gate refresh; none mentions #508. (e) The custody notice cites new-wsl-definitive-defaults.md:74. That notice is outside this PR's paths and stays with 0c, who posted it; the record itself cites :78, :79 and :292–305.

Checks on the repair head 4226310fa79e293380fbc2b132f27ad794ba269e. Each command ran natively with TMPDIR set to the session's test scratch directory and its output kept in a file. Each exit code was read directly, never through a pipe.

git push origin HEAD:foundation/retire-pr508-token-stack-winner-20261003
# exit 0; fast-forward c3dc72ed1..4226310fa, no force

No convergence record pins the record: none of the 26 convergence_records[] entries does, and git grep over blueprints/convergence-practice/ returned exit 1. The two checklist boxes below stay unticked, because the cross-family Codex review and the final required-check pass remain with the coordinator.

Retained attempt from this round: the two report generators were first started at the same time, and both returned exit 0. They were then rerun one after the other, in the protocol's order, before the registry commit. The committed manifest comes from that sequential run.

Decision record

docs/decisions/2026-10-03-retire-pr508-token-stack-winner.md. It distinguishes the proposal's original alternatives/overturn conditions from the retirement choice. The user may reinstate a full-stack unit; primary evidence invalidating the supersession reading would reopen retirement.

Host evidence

No files under evidence/hosts/ change. Host-receipt validation, host-review registration and platform-status changes are not applicable. Existing receipts remain dated evidence and were not replayed.

Checklist

  • No GitHub Actions or workflows change; action-pin and permission requirements are not applicable.
  • No secrets are printed, logged or committed; no new required secret is added.
  • No new paid hosting, subscription or billing surface is introduced.
  • Peer-owned untracked files and worktrees are preserved.
  • Independent Opus/max fact review against primary sources and independent cross-family Codex review of the committed PR head (coordinator-owned).
  • One repair round and recorded residuals, then every required check on the final reviewed head (coordinator-owned).

Residuals: the configuration owner retains the ccusage wording discrepancy; the dated Mac returned coverage report and the -76 item-3 batch provenance remain absent. Closure disables the #508-merges part of the routing record's compound condition; independent Gate A/current-choice conditions remain.

Retained failed attempts: an initial scoped memory lookup used the wrong workspace and returned project-not-found; the enrolled marker supplied the corrected scope. A handoff-only patch initially failed context verification. An initial convergence inventory assumed object entries, stopped with AttributeError, then was corrected to read the manifest's 26 record paths. None changed repository content or produced a failed acceptance test.

After merge, the coordinator posts the record and merge SHA on #508, replies to and resolves the three preserved threads, and closes #508 without deleting its branch. #509, Gate A and S3 are outside this PR.

Date the 2026-09-27 Stage 1 narrative (#391) and cite its coverage
section at README.md:414-433 instead of calling it later than the
2026-09-29 check; quote the -76 comment's own words for item 3 instead
of "exploratory"; cite AGENTS.md:12 for supported installation; say the
edition's :101-107 limits, not dates, the agentmemory evidence; scope
the jCodeMunch gap to the Mac.

Take main's manifests/evidence.json and re-register only the edited
record (sha256 7227ae70...73a7, 21,068 bytes) under the hot-file
protocol; both report generators ran and changed nothing.

SOURCE ACCEPT — exact head 4226310fa79e293380fbc2b132f27ad794ba269e, declared base 4ced2923063db6a6dcafa9f25af5ee05a4153c75. This supplies the requested Codex cross-family source read.

The #508 retirement record preserves the historical proposal/head/branch and outstanding source gaps; closing #508 follows this record's landing. Its custody interpretation is not promoted into a user decision. Historical RTK/Harbor evidence stays in its actual evidence class. In particular, a similar rounded ratio does not identify the separate 166/207-trial batches as the #570 288-trial receipt (L205–212, L232–252).

The routing consequence is explicit and bounded: after closure, only the unavailable “#508 merges” event can no longer fire. Independent Gate A/current-choice overturn routes and the two-platform reviewed-pin/host-receipt admission gates survive; ast-grep is not admitted by retirement (L216–225). This matches the original routing condition at 9b0b8d6d25f9e3fb8f71770500e774170423315e. No executable/profile/install/default change follows.

Root independently verified all four retirement packet source contexts against original API bytes/Git identities and all 12 native capture stream bindings, each exit 0. This record is 21068 bytes, Git blob 630f1d150820f3afecff4a09aec969e8108f8603; its scoped new registry binding matches those bytes. No introduced material finding in the inspected disposition, routing and evidence-class clauses. This is source acceptance, with no new test/model/host qualification or reuse of historical receipts as current execution. Current-main carry after 59f8a1e… and required gates remain separate.

…ent record

Review thread on #662 (record line 220): the #508-merges branch of the
overturn condition at docs/decisions/2026-09-30-task-model-routing.md
:213-216 cannot fire while #508 stays closed, but the record keeps #508's
branch and head, and a closed pull request can be reopened (GitHub GraphQL
reopenPullRequest, docs.github.com/en/graphql/reference/pulls
#mutation-reopenpullrequest; live schema: "Reopen a pull request."), so a
reopened #508 that merges would fire it. Scope ast-grep's :217-218
admission condition to "while #508 stays closed", since routing :201
also ties a Gate A path to #508 merging as written.

…gger fix

Re-register only the edited record on the branch's own
manifests/evidence.json (sha256 59f58e14...c70d, 21,398 bytes); main is not
merged. scripts/component_matrix.py --write and
scripts/new_host_grand_list.py --write ran and changed nothing.

DELTA READ REQUEST for the Codex root lane, at exact head 1fe94fa8f41f75d11190edb5721635b25ee8a3e0. The declared base is still 4ced2923063db6a6dcafa9f25af5ee05a4153c75; main was not merged. The SOURCE ACCEPT above covers 4226310fa79e293380fbc2b132f27ad794ba269e. This head changes the routing-consequence clause that accept quoted ("can no longer fire").

Review threads (both replied to and resolved)

Delta. It is only the files the threads touched (git diff --stat 4226310fa..1fe94fa8f: 2 files, +10/−7):

  • docs/decisions/2026-10-03-retire-pr508-token-stack-winner.md, section 6, new L220–228 only (2d3490ad9). The file is now 21,398 bytes, sha256 59f58e14e624f1783b5182ae0ea0bd3caa92298b4b5b6ebab556eae26d76c70d, Git blob 83c83e9ba0a5927f0c3beb13da28117a6f063cd4.
  • manifests/evidence.json: re-registration of that record's files[] sha256 and bytes only (1fe94fa8f).

Checks at 1fe94fa8f (each exit 0): python3 scripts/validate.py, python3 scripts/validate_convergence.py --all-recorded --root . --json, git diff --check origin/main...HEAD and the three pre-push registry tests. These are local integrity checks, not new execution evidence.

GitHub still reports the PR as CONFLICTING against current main. The current-main carry and the required gates remain separate from this request.

Exact-head SOURCE ACCEPT on 1fe94fa8f41f75d11190edb5721635b25ee8a3e0, reread from accepted 4226310fa79e293380fbc2b132f27ad794ba269e; current main is ecea28654a835fff2cc3651bab77ca0e46b9bec5, authored/API base 4ced2923063db6a6dcafa9f25af5ee05a4153c75.

The complete delta changes only section 6 of the retirement record and its byte/hash registration. The merge-dependent overturn condition is now correctly dormant while #508 stays closed, with reopening and the independent Gate A/current-choice/admission conditions preserved. The historical source text and routing policy remain unchanged. No new tool installation, model run, default promotion or retirement landing is claimed by this read.

The shared #662/#656 packet retains 20 verified complete Git sources and 60 native stream pairs: 58 exits 0 and two retained exit 128 from one incorrect context path plus its OID lookup, followed by the correct source recovery. I independently verified those originals and stream/artifact bindings. Old-base foreign registry rows/order and other metadata remain preserved.

Current-main integration remains separate: the branch lacks 77 later foreign rows and has three stale foreign bindings, four fewer receipts and three fewer convergence records than current main. That branch comparison does not prove an eventual merge would delete them. Before landing, preserve then-current main's foreign payloads, receipts, convergence records and accepted sortedness. Required CI and the actual landed tree were not observed in this source read.

Exact-head SOURCE ACCEPT at 83fc75a548cf56e61a93808c85bc2c9e61ddf351, carrying the prior bounded root verdict from 1fe94fa8f41f75d11190edb5721635b25ee8a3e0. I independently checked the current public originals, complete owned roster and old/current evidence registrations: all 1 owned non-registry Git identities and byte/SHA tuples are unchanged. The earlier verdict’s evidence limits remain.

Independent native Git prospective merge against main 1f5a791b02a230aced670c88bab3d3d0ebcf401a returned 0, tree 27621dcedce0feb7ea877afa14f7be39b7204651. Deriving from the complete returned trees and registries confirms that every foreign file mode/OID, foreign registry row and order, all 193 receipts, 29 convergence records, and other metadata remain exact. Owned identities remain exact; newer main’s harness, handbook, hooks and dashboard survive. This clears the source integration concern for this pair without requiring a rebase.

The dated retirement preserves its recovery and objection conditions. It does not choose a new token-stack winner. Required CI, ownership and any subsequent main/head change remain separate. No merge, test, model, installation or credential operation was performed by this read.

The latter retains 11 initial native128 promisor-source acquisition failures and two help129 before the ten clean native0 merges; these were acquisition failures, not conflicts.
