As we went to release we noticed Windows 64 bit packages had some problems that were not caught in testing. Those have been corrected and testing is underway, but we will delay the release until Monday Aug 10th at 12pm MT/6pm UTC.
On July 20, we announced that the point release was delayed due to a bug found late in the RC process. The bug caused Salt-api to fail to start on 3001.1. (https://github.com/saltstack/salt/issues/57975). Fixing the bug required 2 different PRs and took longer than planned. During that time, we also found a problem with the manual process and made a mistake in not getting all PRs labeled for the Point Release. We're looking into automation to correct this issue.
When we realized the release wouldn't be ready by July, we announced a new release date of August 6. The problem is we didn't provide any additional explanation for the change. Moving forward, any time there's a change to a release date, we'll share an explanation of why there's a delay. Those changes will be posted across Slack, Salt-Announce, and IRC as well as posted on the Community Wiki.
The list of issues and PRs fixed in 3001.1 is available here: https://github.com/saltstack/salt/projects/16.
