7182: Merge #6798 into `2-0-stable` r=colby-swandale a=colby-swandale ### What was the end-user problem that led to this PR? The PR #6798 was not merged correctly in the `2.0.0` release. This was my fault. This PR resolves this. ### What is your fix for the problem, implemented in this PR? Re-merge the PR back into the `2-0-stable` branch.
