Live testing of Scale #117
Comments
OK it's deployed! Test anytime |
@pdxdiaperbank just wanted to point out that the add to inventory button doesn't do anything right now and the radio buttons are mostly for show to test that the scale works. Assuming it works for you, we can start deploying the different diaper types and make the button work! |
Hi @seanmarcia and @armahillo - Sorry this has taken me so long. I had to dive into packaging up diapers the moment I got back from vacation. When I went to the URL to access the scale, it is confusing. This is what came up: It is unclear how to register the device (if that is what it wants me to do)... Also, I only see 3 diaper options-- maybe this is a work in progress for you guys. FYI, you can leave cloth diapering supplies off from the scale options; this feature would be used for disposable diapers. Thanks! Rachel |
Hey @pdxdiaperbank! Ignore all the buttons and stuff for now we just put them in to fill space. This is just to test the scale, once we know it works we can add in the various buttons/dropdowns/etc. ;) To test this, you need to:
You should see a little window open up when you click register device. (You may need to enable the experimental features and restart chrome first.) |
From #3 A user should be able to add loose inventory via weighing the product on a scale. Here are the notes from the previous year: You click on the scale tab |
@armahillo, |
Hi all,
I just dropped off my kiddos for their 1st day of school so my work
schedule has officially opened up! I've got a lot of catching up to do (on
everything, eek!) but I will prioritize this. We truly appreciate all of
your hard work on this amazing project!!
Thanks,
Rachel

Rachel,
We need you to test out the scale and the easiest way to do this was to
merge it into production and let you try it out. It isn't linked up to the
navigation yet, so you'll need to access it directly. Here's how you do it:
1. Connect the scale to your computer
2. Turn it on
3. Go to http://diaperbase.org and sign-in as yourself (PDXDiaperbank)
4. After you're signed in, go directly to this URL:
http://diaperbase.org/pdx_bank/donations/scale
<http://diaperbase.org/pdx_bank/donations/scale>
5. The page should direct you on what to do from that point forwards
At this point, what we really need to know is:
1. Other than linking it to the navigation, what other things could we
improve to make this process easier to do?
2. Does the weigh-in work as expected (ie. is it calculating
correctly?) -- try different blocks of diapers / bags of loose inventory
and see how accurate it is.
3. What use cases can you think of where you or someone else might
need to use the scale for intake?
Thanks!
(I, or someone else, will be deploying the scale changes shortly - they're
not up there quite yet)
