Installation of custom client does not work compatibly with vanilla handin installation

This issue is related to #4; if I try to resolve that issue by having both my custom client and the regular handin package installed on the same machine, my DrRacket winds up somehow misconfigured:

• The handin button above the Definitions window displays the default icon instead of my custom icon.
• Attempts to submit fail, probably because of using the wrong certificate.

I'm presented with a real problem, as I'd like to install both the custom client and the vanilla package on our departmental filesystem, so that our students can submit from their laboratories without installing the custom client themselves, and so the handin server can run on one of our departmental servers.

Is there a way to fix this incompatibility?
