Backlinks in website output

I've started to write all of my personal notes in Quarto, and as I use the Zettelkasten method, what would be really great would be to have some kind of two-way links between pages. One way to do this would be to have an option to have some kind of 'what links here' section at the bottom of each page to make links more bidirectional.

This would be great. Currently using Foam for [[wikilinks]] which now support qmd files.

Is this feature in the pipeline? What would be necessary to make it happen? How can people help?

It's not in the pipeline, and it would require pretty massive changes in how we structure the code around project rendering. Don't hold your breath on this one, it's at least one or two years away.

I guess zettlekasten might not be a huge part of scientific writing?

Possible workaround:

• create a script that parses all pages, extracts links between pages and writes result to a JSON file, e.g. links.json
• copy the JSON file to output directory on build
• add custom JavaScript that loads links.json and shows backlinks on each page

This will not fully work with quarto preview but nevermind.

the whole purpose of wikilinks is to have a free flow between pages while writing as well as retrieving.
