No. It was suggested I re-install Python release 3.85 specifically. That worked for about a month, then one day it just stopped working again. At present I'm without the search tool. |

Not really an intelligible comment, but try what I suggested above. Remove engines and add them back on-by-one. Until you figure out which breaks it. |

Probably off developing and not doing tech support. It might be that all the script files are corrupted? Or something got wrong with python. |

maybe you did not pay close attention..: the folder is named 36-32 but the python.exe inside is a real 64bit one downloaded from its official site... |

As the OP, I can confirm that the search function is still messed up. I had it working for a few weeks, I don't know what changed. The latest problem on one of my machines is that the search will find all sorts of results, and ~90% of them will have "errors in bencoded string", making them not actionable to download. I really do wish someone would make a serious effort to get this part of the software to work reliably, particularly as more and more ISPs block searches on individual torrent sites. |

You don't actually need that, only creating a "profile" folder where the executable is, but it should work the same. It seems more like a glitch at your end. Have you tried reinstalling python? |

Old post, but I had EXACTLY the same issue with ALL plugins being refused as not supported when I click the "check for updates" button on the search Tried the suggestion above for moving "%LOCALAPPDATA%\qBittorrent\nova3\engines" somewher else I just renamed the "%LOCALAPPDATA%\qBittorrent\nova3\engines" folder to "\engines.bak" and tried clicking the "check for updates" button again, all while qbitorrent was running and while downloading torrents Instantly updated/loaded search engine where before NOTHING worked and constantly said all search engines were not supported but they all worked previously I've had this problem for a very long time and had given up on trying to use search engines within qbittorrent |

To those who have the issue: I did all updates/downgrade/portable version and none worked for me. This solution by @thescrapyarduk is the only way that it worked for me. |

For me it doesn't even work with a vanilla profile. I installed 5.0 in portalbe mode for testing. After enabling search there were no search engines shown. After pressing update, I got a bunch of error for several search engines that they are not supported. Even though none is shown to be installed. AFAIK some built in ones should be present. |

Nope. It explicitly shows it found python, then a bunch of search engines are shown to be outdated and are to be upgraded. Then it lists all of them as not supported... |

The thing is I'm testing with a new instance in portable mode. So there were no old plugins. Even stranger still, is when I look in .\profile\qBittorrent\data\nova3\engines\ I don't see any plugin scripts only a 0 byte "init.py". So even though it lists a bunch of them and claims they're not supported, I don't see a sign of them. |

Issue has been identified with python 3.7.x/3.8.x installed.
Uninstall Python 3.8.10 & use latest Python as per instructions from #21579 (comment) |

I've been unable to use search plugins since last summer when I migrated my qb from an old laptop to a new one.
qb 4.41, python 3.92 (64 bit), Windows 11 (although was Win 10 when the problem started). On my old machine I had all of the recommended search plugins on the github search plugins installed.
When I open the Search Plugins tab, there appear to be no plugins installed.
Any plugin I try to install says "Cannot install (X), plugin not supported."
I have tried a complete uninstall and reinstall, no change.
Despite the uninstall, when I hit "Check For Updates", the fresh install seems to know the names of all of the former plugins I had installed, and throws an error window for each of them giving the same error as above.
So it appears that there is a folder somewhere that contains information on previous plugins that is not being successfully removed with a full uninstall, and the remnants of these old plugins are somehow contaminating their successful re-install.
Does anyone have any idea what I could delete or do to give me a fresh start with search plugins?
