Suggested workaround for M4B: Re-mux media file with FFmpeg (or another program):
ffmpeg -i <input file> -map 0:a -map 0:v -c copy <output file>
Note, that this will NOT retain sort-title and sort-album metadata, as described in Cover artwork/FFmpeg.

Playback position unexpectedly jumps when pausing

This is a known issue with VBR MP3 files which is yet to be fixed.

Suggested workaround: Re-encode to a different format, preferably with CBR (see File Formats)
