CVE-2021-3493 security VULNERABILITY #51
Comments
We are on 5.11 kernel now, why are you still on 5.8? |
Should the new kernel be installed through updates in the popos store? If not how do I update my kernel? |
Yes, it should be. You should have this version: You can update with apt-get from a terminal as well:
|
Some folks are stuck using 5.8 due to issue #45 so I'd believe this issue will still affect them until 5.11 proves stable enough to upgrade to. |
@jackpot51 5.8 I can confirm, 5.8 is something suggested by support for a lemp10 popos 20.04 in a case of instability with 5.11 that looks similar to #45. |

When subprog mode is enabled, we have: cls_redirect() -> get_global_metrics() returns pcpu ptr 0xfffffefffc00b480 The pointer returned is later signed-extended to 0xfffffffffc00b480 at `BPF_JMP | BPF_EXIT`. During BPF prog run, this triggers unhandled page fault and a kernel panic. Drop the unnecessary signed-extension on return values like other architectures do. With this change, we have: # ./test_progs -t cls_redirect Can't find bpf_testmod.ko kernel module: -2 WARNING!
