feat(fx): add safe CLI updates with cancellation compatibility - #29399
Verified on Linux with separate main and PR worktrees, one background dev server at a time, and repository Playwright driving Google Chrome. Projects and threads were created in the app against a real git repo. Both fx and native Codex ran real gpt-6.1-sol turns through the local proxy. No mocks, fixtures or replay provider were used.
On main cc59f99e7353, fx 0.0.13 had no update action. On this PR, Settings > Providers > fx offered the update. Clicking Update now ran the real standalone updater, installed 0.0.16, retained authentication and cleared the advisory.
The live run found a remaining bug: fx 0.0.16 sends error.code: "Cancelled", which the original head still classified as failed. Commit 579de19f14a17adcdcc8cae239c9547c745b3d93 accepts that format alongside the older envelope and uses its code for readable child errors. After restarting the patched server, Stop on a running shell monitor persisted interrupted. Stopping a native fx child displayed Cancelled and Interrupted without raw JSON. These videos are edited interaction excerpts, not timing measurements; uploaded playback and seeking were checked in T3's player.
Nearby checks passed: the stopped fx session accepted another turn; printf FX_RECOVERY_OK; exit 17 retained a failed command and reported exit 17. Native Codex completed pwd and git rev-parse --is-inside-work-tree, then returned CODEX_LIVE_OK.
The added cancellation table case failed before the fix. Blacksmith vp run check:changed HEAD --concurrency 2 passed format, lint, both Knip passes, 10 affected-package typechecks and 22 tests in two files. An earlier focused run passed 122 maintenance/resolver/protocol/cancellation tests. Runtime transcript.
Not verified
Native desktop/mobile clients, macOS/Windows hosts, actual Homebrew/mise installations, and relay/tunnel connections were not exercised on this Linux VM. Resolver tests cover the installation/OS safeguards; that is not real native-install verification. GitHub does not render these external MP4 image embeds as video; uploaded playback and seeking passed in T3's player.
Latest-head CI is not green: Test Web again failed the unchanged AttachmentFilePreview.browser.test.tsx case keeps workspace PDF scroll and zoom after reloads (5,414 passed; one failed). Aggregate Check consequently failed. All eight server test shards, Test, Build and Typecheck, Lint, Rust and Release Smoke passed. No unrelated PDF change or retry was made. Both independent read-only reviews approved 579de19f14; scoped Blacksmith checks are green.
Latest mixed-content follow-up
Current head 336badc decodes each ACP content item independently. Diff/terminal entries no longer erase text errors; explicit cancellation still uses the original first position, and the indeterminate fallback still checks every valid text item for error JSON.
Four cases failed before the fix. All 19 cancellation cases and 11 recorded fx replay scenarios pass. Complete check:changed passed format, lint, both Knip passes, 10 affected-package typechecks and 20 adjacent tests. Validation receipt.
Fresh CI and review are pending. The earlier PDF timeout belongs to the prior 30e993f32c8c run; its evidence remains below. Maintainer approval for default-on background release checks remains separate. No real provider/updater or new UI/device validation is claimed.
Prior cancellation-content follow-up
Current head 30e993f makes cancellation detection use the same first content item as fx's subagent error extraction. Secondary Cancelled text no longer hides an earlier genuine failure. The indeterminate-command fallback and clipped-error safeguards remain covered.
Three table cases failed before the fix. Afterward, 14 focused cancellation cases and 11 recorded fx replay scenarios passed. Complete check:changed passed formatting, lint, both Knip passes, 10 affected-package typechecks and 15 adjacent tests. Validation receipt.
The preceding efd23b13c41d head passed CI and Macroscope approvability; the 30e993f32c8c CI run failed Test Web/aggregate Check. Its cancellation review led to the mixed-content correction above. The unchanged PDF scroll/zoom persistence case exhausted its test budget at its final reload (1 failed / 5,411 passed); the exact case passes locally. CI failure · Diagnostic receipt. The cause remains unconfirmed, and local success does not clear CI. Macroscope separately requires maintainer approval for default-on background release checks. No real provider, updater, UI or device validation is claimed. Prior evidence remains below with its historical limits.
Prior diagnostic follow-up
Current head efd23b1 removes fx maintenance's file-level nodeBuiltinImport:off directive. The kernel-release query now uses the existing injectable HostProcess module. The macOS 14 update/latest-version gate, Homebrew ownership selection, standalone upgrade command and mise manual-only behavior remain covered by the existing maintenance tests.
81 focused maintenance/resolver tests and three scoped package typechecks passed, along with formatting, lint, both Knip passes and diff checks. check:changed was stopped before its broad phase because HostProcess.ts selects the whole repository; this is not a full checker pass. Validation receipt. CI owns the full dependent validation.
This removes the diagnostic-suppression concern in Macroscope's approval message. Fresh CI and eligibility review are pending; no maintainer approval or real-install validation is claimed. All previous evidence and its historical limits remain below.
T3 can run fx, but it cannot discover newer releases or update the binary an instance uses. Newer fx releases also report tools cut off by Stop as failed, which makes cancelled commands and sub-agents look broken and can leave a child thread showing raw error JSON.
This completes the existing fx integration's upgrade-and-use path: discover the release in the installation’s channel, upgrade the resolved instance binary safely, and project fx cancellation correctly. The release endpoint currently serves 0.0.16, released October 29; the protocol recordings below were made on 0.0.15. This does not claim a fresh 0.0.16 runtime pass.
Change
Resolve the fx executable from PATH or Binary path. Standalone installs use https://releases.fx.sh/latest.txt for stable-version discovery and run <resolved binary> upgrade. Confirmed Homebrew fx-agent installs use their owning brew upgrade fx-agent and Homebrew’s version channel; unconfirmed ownership and mise-managed installs stay manual-only. upgrade works on older supported standalone fx versions; 0.0.16 also ships update as an alias.
Feed maintenance and version advisories through the shared provider services. Existing web, desktop, and mobile provider-update controls consume the same snapshot; there are no new client controls or connection-specific origins.
Keep stopped fx tools/sub-agents interrupted through repeated failures and output-only updates. Only fx failures carrying a cancellation signal qualify; a genuine failure arriving during Stop stays failed. The ACP decoder retains fx's command_result extension so the fx adapter can interpret it. Other ACP providers keep their existing failure behavior.
Decode a stopped fx sub-agent's error envelope into readable error text. Preserve the later final-head assertion that the follow-up command output actually reached the tool.
Retain the macOS 14 safeguard: no update action or latest-version offer on Darwin < 24. fx 0.0.14 raised the binary requirement to macOS 15; blindly upgrading a working 0.0.13 install would break it. The Node built-in diagnostic directive now explains why the OS-release query is needed.
Scope and reconsideration
Replacement for #26998. GitHub refused to reopen that PR through both GraphQL and REST, including after temporarily restoring its closing SHA; the validated rebased head is restored on the original fork branch. The original discussion, reviews, and all meaningful prior evidence remain linked below. The closure requested a split between maintenance support and Stop compatibility.
I disagree with requiring a split for this rollout: offering an in-place fx upgrade and correctly handling the cancellation protocol of the supported newer executable form one coherent fx compatibility change. The updater uses the shared provider-maintenance resolver; Stop presentation uses shared ACP projection with an fx-specific cancellation decoder. Their concrete shared dependency is the instance executable and environment: the driver resolves maintenance from that configuration, and the ACP launcher starts the configured executable with acp. An upgrade therefore changes the binary the next session will run. The pieces are technically independently shippable. No SDK upgrade or minimum-version bump forces them to land together. The request is to reconsider the combined rollout on that basis; no maintainer approval is being claimed.
This branch is independent of #27002 (fx child-thread steps/full replies) and #26994 (per-thread fx backend selection). It includes neither feature. #27002 overlaps the fx adapter, ACP support, recorder/fixture registration, and guide; #26994 overlaps fx ACP support, adapter/driver/status, and the guide. Their eventual integration needs overlap review.
Current verification
Latest follow-up: 97acf7d recognizes configured mise data/install/store/shim roots in both command paths and preserves stable-release advisories for managed fx installs. The shared resolver’s native-updater precedence honors the same configured roots. Updates remain manual-only, with the install path retained. A neighboring path outside the configured root remains eligible.
Both regressions failed before the fixes: custom-root installs were offered the native updater, and managed snapshots reported an unknown latest version. vp run check:changed HEAD --concurrency 2 passed 82 adjacent tests, 25 affected-package typechecks, formatting, lint and both Knip passes; git diff --check passed. The existing Homebrew and macOS 14 safeguards remain covered. Mise follow-up receipt. 97acf7d awaits fresh CI and bot review. No real installation was updated. Human review of the OS-release diagnostic directive remains pending.
Previous follow-up: 744d008 keeps mise-managed installs manual-only using the shared path and wrapper checks. The extended regression failed before the fix, then all four maintenance tests passed, including mise installs/shims/command-wrappers in resolved and real paths and scripts invoking mise x/mise exec. vp run check:changed HEAD --concurrency 2 passed formatting, lint, both Knip passes, 25 affected-package typechecks, and 81 adjacent tests in three files; git diff --check passed. Validation receipt. No actual installation was upgraded.
The preceding 7ad71f3 fixes Homebrew ownership and the configured-executable instructions, with a failing-before regression and passing scoped checks. Both original review threads are resolved. Its CI, including Test Web and aggregate Check, passed; this supersedes the earlier eb8b52d PDF-test failure below. CI passed on 744d008; its two newer mise findings are addressed by the follow-up above. Macroscope still requests human approval of the OS-release diagnostic directive.
Earlier CI history: eb8b52d failed the existing PDF reload test at AttachmentFilePreview.browser.test.tsx:2573, waiting for 1 / 3 pages after switching files; the other 5,411 web tests passed. Test Web caused the aggregate Check failure. The same assertion failed on an independent fx subagent branch; neither PR changes that implementation/test. The cause was not established; no retry, timeout change, or unrelated PDF change was made.
vp test run --project root --project t3 … --maxWorkers 1: 188 tests passed in 10 files, covering the ACP/fx adapters, maintenance, protocol parsing, and fx/Grok/ACP registry/Muse/Cursor replay suites. Completed output.
vp run check:changed upstream/main --concurrency 1: all steps passed, including typechecks of 14 affected packages and 127 tests in six files. Its test invocation used the same Node-only project selection. Completed output and exact commands/method.
The added genuine-failure-during-Stop assertion failed before the fix (interrupted instead of failed), and the protocol-retention assertion failed because command_result was dropped. Failing-before receipts. The current adapter test also exercises the mock ACP subprocess sequence.
git diff --check and commit-hook formatting/lint/Knip passed.
Current validation receipts include the failing regressions and completed checks. No dev server, interactive browser/device verification, or paid provider turn was used for this revival. The default test runner briefly initialized a headless browser project; that run was stopped and excluded from the results. Completed validation uses the Node projects. Historical CLI/MCP observations below have not been refreshed.
Prior evidence retained
The original runtime check used a real fx 0.0.13 executable installed outside PATH:
This is prior runtime evidence, not the current release number or a new CLI run. The original implementation also verified that fx 0.0.15 called t3_project_list through a dev server's stdio MCP bridge after fx stopped accepting MCP servers over ACP (mcpCapabilities.acp: false).
The committed, normalized 0.0.15 protocol recordings remain intact:
Both originally failed on main with expected 'failed' to equal 'interrupted'. The older 0.0.13 transcripts and 0.0.14 fx_subagent recording remain as compatibility coverage. The original fx, Grok, ACP registry, Muse, and Cursor replay suites passed. Prior CI on final original head 207857a also succeeded; that result does not validate the rebased head.
The original 0.0.13 → 0.0.15 audit also checked changes already handled by T3: code → auto mode naming and the additional full-access mode; wrapped and flat sub-agent arguments; plain-text shell results; an ignored Fast option; usage without cost; and additional status/model fields. The user guide retains minimum fx 0.0.13 support, the update workflow and OS restriction, and the correction that fx 0.0.14+ saves the permission mode.
Later review corrections take precedence over initial summaries: repeated failed/output-only updates stay interrupted, genuine pre-Stop failures retain their status, macOS 14 receives neither an incompatible action nor advisory, and the final test checks the later exit 130 output. The revival additionally addresses CodeRabbit's queued-failure concern with the regression described above.
Original implementation: Claude Opus 5.5 through Claude Code. Revival, follow-up fix, and validation: GPT-6.1 Sol through Codex.
fx was manual-only: T3 never knew when a newer fx release was out and
offered no way to update it. fx now resolves its installed binary (PATH or
binaryPath), checks releases.fx.sh/latest.txt (the file `fx upgrade` and
fx's setup script read), and offers `<binary> upgrade`, which replaces the
binary it runs from. Docs cover the minimum version (0.0.13) and updating.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…nterrupted
fx 0.0.15 answers Stop by failing every tool call still open, sub-agents
included, before it acknowledges the cancel. T3 projected those as failed,
and an interrupted fx sub-agent's child thread showed fx's raw error JSON as
its reply. A tool an agent fails after Stop now reads as interrupted, like one
it leaves open, and the fx sub-agent reply shows fx's error text.
Recorded on fx 0.0.15: an fx turn_interrupt_mid_tool variant and
fx_subagent_stop (a Supervised sub-agent stopped while it waits). The 0.0.13
transcripts and the 0.0.14 fx_subagent stay as coverage for older fx.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
After Stop, the first failed update was stored as failed, so a later update
for the same tool no longer matched the open-status check and the card flipped
back to failed. The turn now remembers which tools Stop cut off.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
fx releases after 0.0.13 need macOS 15, and `fx upgrade` installs the latest
release without checking, so Update now on macOS 14 would leave an fx that
cannot start. Older Macs get neither the update action nor a latest-version
check, so T3 does not advertise a release they cannot run.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Without it, dropping the output-only update after Stop would still pass on the
earlier interrupted status.

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — Adds user-initiated fx updates with installation-ownership and macOS compatibility safeguards, plus improved interrupted-tool and subagent reporting. Updates remain explicit, and cancellation handling does not broaden execution permissions.

The changes add ACP cancellation classification and interrupted-state projection, with replay coverage for commands and subagents. They also add FX update capability resolution and snapshot version advisories, extend mise path detection, and update FX documentation.
ACP decoding accepts tool updates with JSON command results. The provider adapter uses an optional callback to classify failed updates after Stop and project classified calls as interrupted. The FX adapter supplies cancellation detection and extracts subagent error details.
The mock agent and FX replay fixtures cover cancelled and failed tool updates, interrupted commands, and a stopped subagent. Assertions check transcript order, projected state, output, and thread relationships.

FX maintenance fetches and validates the latest release version and configures update capabilities when context and platform permit them. Tests cover Homebrew ownership, mise path detection, invalid responses, missing context, and the macOS version gate.
Publish maintenance status and document update behavior packages/provider-fx/src/server/driver.ts, packages/provider-fx/src/server/status.ts, docs/user/providers-fx.md
The FX driver resolves maintenance capabilities and adds version advisories to provider snapshots. Documentation describes FX versions, platform limits, and update methods.
Some standalone providers may require manual updates when a shared directory is configured for mise shims. The risk is bounded and has a manual workaround.

Explanation
The title "feat(fx): add safe CLI updates with cancellation compatibility" is a conventional commit title that names both main changes in the PR: fx CLI update support (release discovery, standalone and Homebrew upgrades, manual-only mise installs, and macOS safeguards) and fx cancellation compatibility (projecting Stop as interrupted and reading fx's cancellation error shape). It is specific and accurate, though it is somewhat long at 62 characters and lists two topics in one line.
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description is thorough and follows the template's main sections. It includes a Change section and a Scope and approval section that links the replaced PR #26998, explains the reconsideration of the combined rollout, and states that no maintainer approval is claimed. It also has a Verification section listing commands, screenshots, videos, and receipts, plus a Not verified list. The Problem section is not a distinct heading. The problem is covered in the opening of the Change-related prose and the 'Problem' text, but it is not isolated under a Problem heading. The description also contains a large amount of historical and follow-up detail, and it is not sectioned to the template's exact headings. The template asks for a short, focused problem statement, and the description does not meet that bar cleanly. Because the required information is present and the description is mostly complete, the check passes, but the author should add a concise Problem section and trim the repeated history into fewer sections.

The eb8b52d CI failure is in the existing web PDF test keeps workspace PDF scroll and zoom after reloads, at AttachmentFilePreview.browser.test.tsx:2573. After switching to /repo/another.pdf, the preview remains on “Loading file” instead of showing 1 / 3 pages; the other 5,411 web tests passed. Test Web log. The aggregate Check job failed solely because Test Web failed.
The same assertion failed on the independent fx subagent branch in run 41473902697. Neither branch changes the PDF implementation or test relative to its upstream base. This correlation does not establish the cause or prove a flaky test. No retry, timeout increase, or PDF change was made.
7ad71f3 separately fixes both maintenance review findings with failing-before/passing-after coverage. Scoped checks passed; CI and review of the new head are pending.
Removed the diagnostic suppression flagged in the approval comment, in efd23b13c41d. fx maintenance now reads the kernel release through the existing injectable HostProcess module. Its default still uses the actual host release; the macOS 14 no-update gate is retained. No suppression was added elsewhere.
All 81 maintenance/resolver tests and three scoped package typechecks passed. Formatting, lint and both Knip passes passed. The changed-file checker selects the whole repository for HostProcess.ts, so I stopped it before the broad phase under AGENTS.md; this is not a complete checker pass. Validation receipt. Full validation and eligibility review are pending in CI; no actual installation was upgraded.

Use the same content item for cancellation and error extraction.
ACP permits multiple tool content items. fxToolCallWasCancelled checks every text, but the FX extractor uses only the first text. On a stopped failed sub-agent, a later Cancelled item can therefore relabel a genuine error as interrupted. If Cancelled is first, the genuine error item is not displayed.
Use the first content item for cancellation detection, matching the extractor.

Update fxToolCallWasCancelled to detect cancellation only from the first content
item, matching the FX error extractor; retain the existing indeterminate-status
fallback and its safeguards for clipped error JSON.

Fixed the multi-content cancellation finding in 30e993f32c8c. Explicit cancellation detection now uses the first content item, matching fx's subagent extractor. Later cancellation text cannot mask the first failure. The indeterminate-command fallback still rejects clipped error JSON.
Three regression cases failed first; all 14 cancellation cases now pass, alongside 11 recorded fx replay scenarios. Complete check:changed passed (10 affected-package typechecks, 15 adjacent tests, formatting, lint and both Knip passes). Validation receipt. Please review the latest head; fresh CI and review are pending. No real provider or updater command was run.
@jakeleventhal I’ll resume automatic reviews and request a review of the latest head, including the cancellation fix in 30e993f32c8c.
Thanks for the fix and validation report. Fresh CI and review results remain unverified.

Latest-head Test Web failed only AttachmentFilePreview.browser.test.tsx > keeps workspace PDF scroll and zoom after reloads (5,411 other cases passed). It exhausted the test budget while waiting for the final PDF reload. The aggregate Check is red too.
The PDF test, preview component and browser setup are unchanged in this branch. The exact failing case passed locally on 30e993f32c8c; the cause remains unconfirmed, and that pass does not clear CI. No timeout increase, retry option, unrelated source patch or job rerun was added. Diagnostic receipt. CodeRabbit review of the cancellation fix is still pending.
Please review latest head 336badcbb6a0, which fixes the mixed-content decoder finding. The original item position is retained for explicit cancellation, while every decoded text still participates in the error guard. Validation receipt. Fresh CI is pending. The previous PDF-test failure is retained as prior-head evidence.
Current-head CI at 336badcbb6a0 failed in AttachmentFilePreview.browser.test.tsx > keeps workspace PDF scroll and zoom after reloads: the final rerender remained on “Loading file” instead of showing “1 / 3 pages”. The web job reports 1 failed and 5,414 passed tests; the aggregate Check fails solely because Test Web failed. CI failure.
The exact case passed locally on the same head (1 passed; 132 excluded by the name filter). The PDF test, preview component, and browser setup have no diff from this PR’s upstream base ac8dce0cc3a. This matches the prior-head failure, but the isolated pass does not establish its cause or turn CI green. Macroscope has approved 336badc; CodeRabbit’s latest-head review is still pending.
@jakeleventhal I’ll resume automatic reviews and request a review of 336badcbb6a0, focused on the mixed-content decoder fix.
Thanks for the fix and validation receipt. The review must verify that explicit cancellation preserves the original item position and that the error guard checks every decoded text.
Your later update reports that current-head Test Web and the aggregate Check failed on the PDF reload test. The isolated local pass does not clear CI or establish the cause.

Takeover follow-up
Merged main at 71646e031a6d without rebasing and resolved the two conflicts, preserving both fx and Kiro replay registrations. The merge's generic subagent cancellation fallback needed the same provider guard as the tool fallback: fx now keeps a genuine subagent failure after Stop, while Kiro retains its existing behavior. The existing cancellation case reproduced the regression (interrupted instead of failed) before the guard and passes afterward. No new test file or UI change was added.
Head b903a242ec0468cbd6d4fd4f9e0a4c11b2b843aa was pushed to the original contributor branch without force. Blacksmith vp run check:changed github/main --concurrency 2 passed formatting, lint, both Knip passes, GraphQL generation, 40 package typechecks and 215 tests. All 28 fx/Kiro orchestration replays passed. The exact previous CI failure, keeps workspace PDF scroll and zoom after reloads, passed in Chromium on the worker without changing PDF code.
The real-provider screenshots and recordings above predate this merge. This pass verified cancellation through the existing adapter regression and recorded-provider replays; it did not repeat live fx updates or native client interactions. Fresh CI and final independent review are pending.
Current takeover pass
Merged current main 61c3794c32b0 without rebasing. The resolver conflict retains both the npm ownership guard and environment-aware mise detection. Fixed the remaining cancellation finding: a first cancelled tool update after Stop now becomes interrupted even without prior tool state. Extended the existing native cancellation case; it failed as failed before the fix and passes afterward, including genuine command/subagent failure preservation and next-turn recovery.
Head 9d8eb86e0a356412ed2e0f39ff998e5706e96167 passes Blacksmith vp run check:changed github/main --concurrency 2: format, lint, both Knip passes, GraphQL, 40 package typechecks and 7 adjacent test files. All 28 fx/Kiro orchestration replays also pass. The worker snapshot needed a worker-only parent graft to the exact merged main for merge-base comparison; repository history is unchanged. No new test files or UI changes.
Live fx updates, native clients and the existing browser evidence were not reverified in this pass. Fresh CI and final review are pending.
Shared shim follow-up
Fixed the new shared-shim-directory finding in ffbbe21446249a1bd7eca469f39692ade83b69d8. Directory membership in MISE_SHIMS_DIR or MISE_SYSTEM_SHIMS_DIR no longer establishes ownership. Confirmed wrappers and resolved managed installs stay manual-only. The existing native-update case failed before the fix; all 82 maintenance tests pass afterward. Existing fx coverage now checks a real wrapper and an unrelated executable in the same shared directory.
Final Blacksmith check:changed passed formatting, lint, both Knip passes, GraphQL, all 40 affected package typechecks and 217 tests in 7 files. Both independent read-only reviews approve this exact head with no findings. This is the second fix round. All 32 final-head checks pass, Macroscope approves, GitHub reports CLEAN/MERGEABLE, and no review threads remain unresolved. The product behavior is preserved. Ready for Maria's review; not merged.

gpt-6.1-solon behalf of MariaVerified in a real dev environment
Verified on Linux with separate main and PR worktrees, one background dev server at a time, and repository Playwright driving Google Chrome. Projects and threads were created in the app against a real git repo. Both fx and native Codex ran real
gpt-6.1-solturns through the local proxy. No mocks, fixtures or replay provider were used.On main
cc59f99e7353, fx 0.0.13 had no update action. On this PR, Settings > Providers > fx offered the update. Clicking Update now ran the real standalone updater, installed 0.0.16, retained authentication and cleared the advisory. The live run found a remaining bug: fx 0.0.16 sends
error.code: "Cancelled", which the original head still classified as failed. Commit579de19f14a17adcdcc8cae239c9547c745b3d93accepts that format alongside the older envelope and uses its code for readable child errors. After restarting the patched server, Stop on a running shell monitor persistedinterrupted. Stopping a native fx child displayedCancelledandInterruptedwithout raw JSON. These videos are edited interaction excerpts, not timing measurements; uploaded playback and seeking were checked in T3's player.Nearby checks passed: the stopped fx session accepted another turn;
printf FX_RECOVERY_OK; exit 17retained a failed command and reported exit 17. Native Codex completedpwdandgit rev-parse --is-inside-work-tree, then returnedCODEX_LIVE_OK.The added cancellation table case failed before the fix. Blacksmith
vp run check:changed HEAD --concurrency 2passed format, lint, both Knip passes, 10 affected-package typechecks and 22 tests in two files.
Latest-head CI is not green: Test Web again failed the unchanged

All eight server test shards, Test, Build and Typecheck, Lint, Rust and Release Smoke passed. No unrelated PDF change or retry was made.
Complete

efd23b13c41dhead passed CI and Macroscope approvability; the30e993f32c8cCI run failed Test Web/aggregate Check. Prior evidence remains below with its historical limits.Prior diagnostic follow-up
Current head efd23b1 removes fx maintenance's file-level
nodeBuiltinImport:offdirective. The kernel-release query now uses the existing injectableHostProcessmodule. The macOS 14 update/latest-version gate, Homebrew ownership selection, standalone upgrade command and mise manual-only behavior remain covered by the existing maintenance tests.81 focused maintenance/resolver tests and three scoped package typechecks passed, along with formatting, lint, both Knip passes and diff checks.
check:changedwas stopped before its broad phase becauseHostProcess.tsselects the whole repository; this is not a full checker pass.

Other ACP providers keep their existing failure behavior.Scope and reconsideration
Their concrete shared dependency is the instance executable and environment: the driver resolves maintenance from that configuration, and the ACP launcher starts the configured executable with
acp.
Both regressions failed before the fixes: custom-root installs were offered the native updater, and managed snapshots reported an unknown latest version.
vp run check:changed HEAD --concurrency 2passed 82 adjacent tests, 25 affected-package typechecks, formatting, lint and both Knip passes;git diff --checkpassed. The existing Homebrew and macOS 14 safeguards remain covered. Mise follow-up receipt. 97acf7d awaits fresh CI and bot review. No real installation was updated. Human review of the OS-release diagnostic directive remains pending.Previous follow-up: 744d008 keeps mise-managed installs manual-only using the shared path and wrapper checks. The extended regression failed before the fix, then all four maintenance tests passed, including mise installs/shims/command-wrappers in resolved and real paths and scripts invoking
mise x/mise exec.vp run check:changed HEAD --concurrency 2passed formatting, lint, both Knip passes, 25 affected-package typechecks, and 81 adjacent tests in three files;git diff --checkpassed.
Earlier CI history: eb8b52d failed the existing PDF reload test at
AttachmentFilePreview.browser.test.tsx:2573, waiting for1 / 3 pagesafter switching files; the other 5,411 web tests passed. Test Web caused the aggregate Check failure. The same assertion failed on an independent fx subagent branch; neither PR changes that implementation/test. The cause was not established; no retry, timeout change, or unrelated PDF change was made.vp test run --project root --project t3 … --maxWorkers 1: 188 tests passed in 10 files, covering the ACP/fx adapters, maintenance, protocol parsing, and fx/Grok/ACP registry/Muse/Cursor replay suites. Its test invocation used the same Node-only project selection. The current adapter test also exercises the mock ACP subprocess sequence.git diff --checkand commit-hook formatting/lint/Knip passed.Current validation receipts include the failing regressions and completed checks.
The original implementation also verified that fx 0.0.15 called
t3_project_listthrough a dev server's stdio MCP bridge after fx stopped accepting MCP servers over ACP (mcpCapabilities.acp: false). The committed, normalized 0.0.15 protocol recordings remain intact:
Cancelledresult. Both originally failed on main with
expected 'failed' to equal 'interrupted'. The older 0.0.13 transcripts and 0.0.14fx_subagentrecording remain as compatibility coverage. The original fx, Grok, ACP registry, Muse, and Cursor replay suites passed. Prior CI on final original head 207857a also succeeded; that result does not validate the rebased head. The original 0.0.13 → 0.0.15 audit also checked changes already handled by T3:
code→automode naming and the additionalfull-accessmode; wrapped and flat sub-agent arguments; plain-text shell results; an ignored Fast option; usage without cost; and additional status/model fields. The user guide retains minimum fx 0.0.13 support, the update workflow and OS restriction, and the correction that fx 0.0.14+ saves the permission mode.Later review corrections take precedence over initial summaries: repeated failed/output-only updates stay interrupted, genuine pre-Stop failures retain their status, macOS 14 receives neither an incompatible action nor advisory, and the final test checks the later
exit 130output. The revival additionally addresses CodeRabbit's queued-failure concern with the regression described above.Original implementation: Claude Opus 5.5 through Claude Code. Revival, follow-up fix, and validation: GPT-6.1 Sol through Codex.
