The ⌘ in the thread jump hints rendered in 10px SF Mono, where the glyph is too small to make out, and the badge floated over the card's middle, landing between the timestamp and the provider icon. The hint now renders as a Kbd in the row's status slot and takes up space there, so wider labels like Ctrl+1 shorten the project name instead of overlapping it. While it shows, the slot takes its status and hover controls out of view, the same way hover swaps in the row controls. The legacy sidebar keeps its inline badge with the readable font. Render hints in row status slots apps/web/src/components/sidebar/SidebarThreadRow.tsx |
Compact and card rows render jump hints in their status slots. The hint uses the Kbd component and is hidden while the snooze menu is open. The former placement after row content is removed. |

Problem
Holding ⌘ on macOS shows thread jump hints, ⌘1 through ⌘9, in the sidebar. The ⌘ is too small to read, because 10px SF Mono draws it far smaller than the digit beside it. The badge also floats between the timestamp and the provider icon, so it lines up with neither.
To reproduce, open the desktop app on macOS 26.2 and hold ⌘ over the sidebar. The web app never shows these hints, since browsers keep ⌘1 through ⌘9 for switching tabs.
Change
Kbdcomponent. The model picker's ⌘1 through ⌘9 labels and the sidebar's command palette hint already use it. It renders the system font at 12px, where ⌘ is drawn full size. The sidebar badge was the only shortcut hint with its own monospace style.Ctrl+1labels on Windows and Linux and any remapped binding. The old badge needed an opaque pill because it sat on top of row content. In the slot it covers nothing, so the standardKbdfits without restyling. The one tradeoff is that while
⌘is held, the hint hides the row's status, such as "Working 2m", the same way hover does today. Hints only appear after a short hold, so quick⌘shortcuts never flash them. Releasing⌘brings the rows back to their normal state (timestamps or working statuses, and Settle/snooze on a hovered card).Scope and approval
This is a small fix for a visual bug in an existing feature, so I didn't open an issue first. Keybindings, contracts, and the rules for when hints appear are unchanged.
Verification
I ran the desktop dev build on macOS 26.2 against a copy of real data and captured everything through the Electron debug port.
ui-monospaceto 12px system font.Ctrl+1andCtrl+Shift+1labels, the slot grows to 43px and 78px. The project name or title truncates to make room, with no overlap at rest or hovered.vp linton both files and a webtsc --noEmitpass.Recording of hold ⌘, hover, and release, dark theme, 9 seconds
Idle → hold ⌘ and the hints replace the timestamps → hover card 1, then card 2, and the hints stay → release ⌘ and Settle and snooze return on the hovered card → move away. The capture doesn't include the pointer.

Windows and Linux labels
Here's how it looks with the
Ctrl+1labels that Windows and Linux show. I swapped the label text in on macOS. The slot widens to fit, and the project name keeps its space.Done with Claude Opus 5.5 in Claude Code, via T3 Code.
