fix(web): keep goal status visible behind Tasks - #25410
While a Codex goal and task plan run together, Tasks takes the front composer banner and the goal collapses into an empty 12px strip. Its presence and status become undiscoverable until the strip is hovered. This also affects a completed goal during a later working turn.
Change
Give the collapsed stack control a readable hidden-notice title, icon, and expansion chevron. Keep the single-front-banner ordering and existing disclosure behavior. Only plain-text titles are copied; rich titles and content-only notices use a notice count so interactive controls are never nested inside the expansion button.
Triaged bug via the automated issue flow. GitCafe: #25379.
Verification
Reproduced in the real Linux Chrome web app with Codex: start /goal, explicitly create a three-step update_plan, hover the strip, then move away. Before: empty 12px strip. After: “Pursuing goal · 22k tokens” remains visible in a 24px control; hovering reveals the objective. Also observed “Goal complete” during a subsequent working turn with Tasks visible.
vp run check:changed: format, lint, both knip checks, affected web/scripts typechecks, and the existing ComposerBannerStack browser test all pass after merging main. Unrelated untracked app.json was excluded with a command-local Git ignore and left untouched. No new tests for this visual defect.
Independent GPT-6.1-Sol and Claude Opus 5.5 source reviews both returned MERGE. A fresh proof audit passed rendering and integration claims and independently replayed the 390px dark harness capture with zero pixel delta.
Final head 1449d0a663 incorporates main; both component files are byte-identical to captured head 62f38ad75b.
Real-app recordings: start collapsed, hover at about 2 seconds, then move away at the end. Chrome 156/Linux, 1280×800 CSS pixels, DPR 2, light theme, isolated server home. Live clocks differ between videos; deterministic pixel comparisons are provided separately below.
Labelled component harness: all render paths, matched pixels
Actual production components and goal factory, identical fixture data at 1440×900 and 390×900 CSS viewports, light/dark, Chrome 156/Linux, DPR 2, Inter Variable. Desktop tool output is downsampled to 1280×800; responsive output is 780×1800. All affected rows have before/after captures and differences at 0 and >16/255. Controls are pixel-identical. Harness recordings cover hover, click, keyboard, fallback and rich-title focus; synthetic touch is labelled.
What else changed: the empty cap is 12px taller and shows title/icon/chevron, or a fallback count; long text truncates while count and chevron remain visible. Matched differences are confined to that strip. No control-pair pixels changed.
Limits: Electron shell and physical touch were not exercised. Completed goal during a later working turn is verified; production retention of a fully completed task list is not claimed. The rich-title recording proves tooltip dismissal, not second-Escape collapse/focus restoration. Native mobile and server/provider behavior are unchanged. CI and bot review may still be pending; no watch or merge is requested.
Implemented with Claude Opus 5.5 through Claude Agent SDK; integrated and verified with GPT-6.1-Sol through Codex in T3 Code.
The peek behind the front banner was an empty 12px strip, so a goal
hidden behind Tasks looked clipped. It now shows the stacked notice's
icon and title, a +N count, and an expand chevron.

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — This focused web UI fix makes the existing collapsed notice strip show the hidden notice’s title, icon, count, and expansion affordance while preserving the existing stack behavior. The change is self-contained and does not affect schemas, defaults, infrastructure, or static-analysis configuration.

The collapsed composer banner peek now shows information about a hidden notice. When the first stacked notice has a string title, the peek displays its icon, title, and—when applicable—a count of other notices. Otherwise, it displays the notice count and an accessible label.

Summary
Select and render peek content apps/web/src/components/chat/ComposerBannerStack.tsx, apps/web/src/components/chat/ComposerBanner.tsx
The stack selects the first notice’s string title when available. The peek can render child content, uses a taller flex-row layout, and shows an upward chevron. The stack displays the notice icon and title with a count of remaining notices, or a count with the “Show N other notices” accessible label. The stack container’s minimum height changes from 3 to 6.

Explanation
The description follows the repository template. It has Problem, Change, Scope and approval, and Verification sections. The Problem and Change sections explain the defect and the fix. Scope links the triaged issue #25379 and explains the automated triage flow. Verification gives real-app reproduction steps, before/after evidence, and a vp run check:changed result. It also states what was not checked: Electron shell, physical touch, and production retention of fully completed task lists. The description is long and dense, but it covers every required section with concrete information.

Explanation
Issue #25379 requires the goal status to remain discoverable when Tasks is the front banner. ComposerBannerStack now derives a plain-string title from the first stacked notice and renders it with the notice icon in ComposerBanner.Peek. The peek is 24px high and includes an expansion chevron. It keeps the existing hover, click, keyboard, and disclosure behavior. Non-string titles and content-only notices use a visible count and an accessible label, which avoids placing rich interactive content inside the expansion button.

The whole-PR changes are limited to ComposerBanner.tsx and ComposerBannerStack.tsx. They add the collapsed-stack label, icon, count fallback, chevron, and related sizing and styling. These changes directly support issue #25379 and do not demonstrate unrelated product behavior changes.

Treat blank titles as missing titles.
If the first hidden notice has an empty or whitespace-only string title, peekTitle is not null. The peek then omits its notice-count fallback and aria-label. With one hidden notice, the button has no readable text that identifies the notice. Use the count and label fallback for blank titles. Based on learnings: icon buttons need an accessible name when visible text is absent.
