Pulling to refresh mobile PR details re-read the server's held checks. The pull now awaits the existing invalidation command for the selected environment and full PR reference before refreshing detail and the other sections. Focus and background reads retain their existing cache behavior.

The refresh indicator covers invalidation and detail together. Repeated pulls deduplicate, rejected invalidation still allows dependent refreshes, and switching PRs or unmounting prevents obsolete work from resuming or clearing a newer indicator. Guide refresh remains conditional.

Rebuilt from @g-h-miles's #19177, preserving the contributor's commits and merging main.

Verification at b76d4e8085:

  • Existing focused mobile/shared suites: 95 passed before and after, with 38 cases excluded by the explicit name filter. No committed tests added: existing related suites cannot catch this mobile call directly.
  • Separate headless runtime proof executes the actual hook, query runner, and extracted production route/target closures against a controlled cache fixture. Base: 1 passed / 6 failed; head: all 7 passed. Covered held pending checks becoming success without TTL advance, invalidation ordering, spinner phases, deduplication, rejection fallback, conditional guide, selection/unmount cancellation, newer-spinner isolation, and the zero-argument hook caller.
  • Another 11 existing server cache behavior cases passed (195 excluded by name filter). Mobile typecheck and formatting passed; scoped lint has only three existing warnings.
  • Independent whole-PR reviews by Claude Opus 5.5 and Codex GPT-6 Sol found no code findings in round 1.

Runtime proof and limits · Head output · Base output · Scratch harness · Server cache checks

Native verification is unavailable: the device tool returned “Agent device access is turned off for this environment.” The runtime proof uses React DOM/Effect atoms with fixture cache and command dependencies; it is not the full React Native screen, a running server integration, or a live GitHub check transition. No native screenshot or recording is claimed. A human should still open a PR whose checks change and pull on iOS/Android. macOS, Windows, and Electron desktop were not verified.

CI passes on the published head after approving the held fork workflows. Test Web, native static analysis, and preview jobs were skipped by their workflow conditions. CodeRabbit confirmed the reported issue addressed; its new review was rate-limited. No unresolved inline findings or new feedback. Native iOS/Android verification remains outstanding. No merge performed.

Implementation: Codex GPT-6.1 Sol through T3 Code/Codex. Test pass: Codex GPT-6 Astra. Reviews: Claude Opus 5.5 and Codex GPT-6 Sol. Headless proof: Codex GPT-6.1 Sol.

Approvability

Verdict: Approved at f8400f1

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — This is a small, self-contained mobile bug fix that makes an explicit pull-to-refresh bypass the server cache before reloading the pull request and related data. The behavior is user-initiated and follows existing web and list refresh patterns, with no product-default or static-analysis changes.

📝 Walkthrough

The pull request screen now invalidates the current detail cache before refreshing dependent data. The pull-to-refresh hook accepts an optional asynchronous callback and continues the atom query if that callback fails.

Changes: Pull request refresh

Layer / File(s) Summary
Add a pre-refresh callback
apps/mobile/src/state/use-pull-to-refresh.ts
usePullToRefresh accepts an optional asynchronous callback and runs it before the atom query. If the callback fails, the query still runs.
Invalidate pull request detail before refresh

The screen invalidates the detail cache for the current environment and reference before refreshing dependent data. Guide refresh remains conditional on guides being enabled. Stack, activity, and file content refreshes remain unconditional.

Change: Bug fix

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 82437

If cache invalidation fails, pulling to refresh may leave the guide, stack, activity, and files unchanged. This is a bounded failure, but it should be fixed or explicitly accepted before merging.

Security architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to 82437

The refresh reuses existing permission checks and remains tied to the selected pull request. Some work can continue after leaving or changing the screen, but the inspected paths do not demonstrate increased privileges or access to another pull request’s data.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The added action can spend host requests and notify other readers through existing invalidation behavior. Its effective scope is the selected reference on the origin plus matching destinations previously used by routing, rather than an unrestricted new environment selector. Existing destination consent checks remain applicable.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • inferred — Route-derived identifiers now reach an existing cache-invalidation operation, but the caller does not supply additional authority or bypass the existing command authorization. The inspected path supports bounded reuse of an established capability, not a demonstrated privilege expansion.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • inferred — Delayed callbacks can initiate work after the original target is replaced. Captured detail and dependent atom identities limit the demonstrated effect to stale work for the initiating target; no cross-target disclosure was established. Cancellation of every downstream effect was not fully proven.

Explanation

The description provides the problem, implementation details, verification results, test limitations, and links to supporting evidence. It does not use the required section headings, does not clearly document maintainer approval or an exemption for the linked predecessor PR, and does not include UI screenshots or a recording. However, the description is otherwise detailed and sufficiently explains the change and its verification.

The PR detail pull-to-refresh only re-read through the server's cache,
which answers with the held detail and revalidates behind it, so check
statuses stayed stale. Invalidate the pull request first, as the web
refresh button and the mobile PR list already do.

Taking over this one as maintainer for batch pull-request-05. I will merge current main, rebuild the focused cache-invalidation fix with minimal behavior coverage, and run independent reviews before pushing here. Your commits and credit will be preserved. No merge is planned.
