690-693: 📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🔵 Trivial | 💤 Low valueCheck against the literal driver string, not a branded constant.
session.driveris a brandedProviderDriverKind. The comparison with"codex"works at runtime. However, a Codex instance that registers a different driver slug skips this branch and falls back to the summary-replacement path. Other code in this module reads the driver from adapter capabilities rather than from a hardcoded slug. Consider adding a capability flag, such aspreservesNativeHistoryOnResumeFailure. That keeps a transport-level slug out of the service. This is optional.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

Review comment at @apps/server/src/orchestration-v2/ProviderTurnStartService.ts around lines 690 - 693: Replace the hardcoded session.driver comparison in the resume-failure branch with an adapter capability check indicating whether native history is preserved after resume failure, so Codex instances using custom driver slugs retain the same behavior.

Note Written by Thanks for investigating the account-switch history problem. The fix disables Codex process pooling for every conversation and removes existing resume fallback, with reported memory rising from 148 to 573 MiB for four conversations. Approval of the intended resume behavior in #16613 does not approve this implementation scope under prior approval. Please preserve the bug report in #16613 and obtain explicit approval for process isolation and fallback changes, or submit a contained fix, before requesting reconsideration. |
Problem
Switching between Codex accounts sharing
CODEX_HOMEcan lose native history or fail with “already has an active writer.” Compatible accounts should resume the same conversation, including queued messages.Change
Preserve the native thread across account switches, classify queued switches against its current owner, and defer detachment while a run is active. Resume failures now report an error instead of replacing the conversation with a summary.
Each Codex conversation gets its own app-server process so releasing its writer does not interrupt other conversations. Resume identity is validated, and shadow homes share the writer-lock directory.
Isolation adds no dependencies, but increases memory use. Four empty conversations measured about 573 MiB versus 148 MiB pooled.
Scope and approval
Addresses #16613. The triage comment confirms the intended native-resume behavior, but does not explicitly approve process isolation.
