Problem

Mobile lacked workflow phases, results, and Stop controls available on web.

Change

Adds workflow cards to the mobile Agents sheet with phase results, member chat links, and the existing Stop/Cancel controls. Workflows stay reachable after later turns.

Cards start collapsed and open one phase at a time. Completed members keep their reported model, effort, and speed. New runs clear old progress and metadata.

Scope and approval

Mobile parity with #12598. Human review is still required.

Verification

Native checks passed phase switching/collapse, completed metadata, member navigation, Cancel and Stop. Verified with focused tests, scoped typechecks/lint, iOS and Android JS exports, and CI. Native captures use the real iPhone 18 Pro app on iOS 27.0 with local CLI sample data. Android was not device-tested. A clean native rebuild is blocked by existing iOS 27.1 layout APIs on the Mac with the 27.0 SDK.

After: collapsed After: running phase After: completed metadata
Collapsed workflow Running workflow phase Completed agent metadata

Built with Claude Opus 5.5 High and GPT-6.1-Sol High Fast, through Claude Agent SDK and Codex in T3 Code.

Approvability

Verdict: Not approved

Macroscope's review found this PR not approvable — This PR introduces a substantial workflow UI on mobile, member navigation, persisted workflow metadata, and user-triggered agent/workflow stopping actions. Its changes span mobile, shared runtime, server orchestration, contracts, and web rendering, so the runtime and interaction impact merits human review.

📝 Walkthrough

The change retains workflow subagents across runs and adds shared helpers for phase status and elapsed time. The web workflow row uses these helpers. The mobile thread sheet displays expandable workflow groups, member details, child-thread navigation, and permission-gated stop actions. Server workflow progress captures transcript metadata and resets when the coordinator run changes.

Changes: Workflow state and phase presentation

Layer / File(s) Summary
Retain workflow subagents in turn rosters
packages/client-runtime/src/state/threadSubagents.ts, packages/client-runtime/src/state/threadSubagents.test.ts
The roster includes workflow subagents from other runs. The pill remains visible on an inactive turn with no live agents when a workflow exists. The settled count excludes idle agents. Tests cover roster inclusion and pill counts.
Share workflow phase status and timing
packages/client-runtime/src/state/subagentRuntime.ts, packages/client-runtime/src/state/subagentRuntime.test.ts, apps/web/src/components/chat/ThreadLineageWorkflowRow.tsx
Runtime helpers derive phase status and elapsed time from member state and timestamps. Synthesized workflow members retain speed. The web workflow row uses the shared helpers. Tests cover phase timing, status, and member projection.

Mobile workflow groups and stop actions

Layer / File(s) Summary
Derive workflow presentation and stop targets
apps/mobile/src/features/threads/threadAgentsPresentation.ts, apps/mobile/src/features/threads/threadAgentsPresentation.test.ts
Helpers derive workflow rail items, selection, member metadata and details, and stop targets. Tests cover grouping, selection, presentation, and stop-target conditions.
Render workflow groups and member rows
apps/mobile/src/features/threads/ThreadAgentsSheet.tsx, apps/mobile/src/features/threads/ThreadWorkflowGroup.tsx, apps/mobile/src/features/threads/SubagentRow.tsx
The sheet renders grouped workflows and individual ungrouped agents. Workflow phases show member status, metadata, details, errors, and elapsed time. Members open child threads when available.
Confirm and execute stop actions
apps/mobile/src/features/threads/SubagentStopButton.tsx, packages/client-runtime/src/state/commandPermissions.test.ts
The stop button checks target and permission, confirms the action, and invokes workflow stopping or agent-turn interruption. It displays pending and failure states. Permission tests cover stopWorkflow grants.

Server workflow metadata and progress

Layer / File(s) Summary
Parse and propagate transcript metadata
packages/contracts/src/orchestrationV2.ts, packages/contracts/src/orchestrationV2.test.ts, apps/server/src/orchestration-v2/workflowAgentAnswers.ts, apps/server/src/orchestration-v2/workflowAgentAnswers.test.ts, apps/server/src/orchestration-v2/Adapters/ClaudeAdapterV2.ts, apps/server/src/orchestration-v2/Adapters/ClaudeAdapterV2.test.ts
Workflow-agent contracts accept optional effort and speed. The transcript parser returns answers with metadata, which the Claude adapter copies to workflow members and publishes through an update event. Tests cover metadata parsing, propagation, and clearing.
Merge workflow progress by coordinator run
apps/server/src/orchestration-v2/Adapters/claudeWorkflowProgress.ts, apps/server/src/orchestration-v2/Adapters/claudeWorkflowProgress.test.ts
Progress merging prefers a valid fallback model and clears prior state when both coordinator run IDs exist and differ. Tests cover run changes and retention of member metadata.

Priority: ➖ Normal

Estimated code review effort: 3 (Moderate) | ~25 minutes

Change: Feature

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to 99636

Restarted workflows may skip a member's final answer or overwrite messages from an earlier run in the conversation. Scope member state to each run before merging. The mobile Stop controls and phase display show no remaining concrete blockers.

Security architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to 99636

The mobile controls reuse existing environment permissions and server-side target checks. Workflow progress now resets when an explicit run change is reported. No introduced authorization bypass was established, but concurrent Stop requests and recovery after interrupted communication remain incompletely verified.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The relevant authority is orchestration:operate on the destination environment. The PR adds mobile reachability to existing cancellation capabilities rather than demonstrating a new role, credential, or cross-environment privilege grant. The authorization unit remains the environment; the workflow target is additionally bound to its owning thread and provider task.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — Authorization is enforced beyond the mobile UI. Shared command execution authorizes the destination, and server RPC middleware checks the authenticated connection's scopes before invoking handlers. Both dispatchCommand and stopWorkflow require orchestration:operate, so hiding the button is not the only control protecting cancellation.
  • observed — Workflow Stop re-reads authoritative records under a thread lock and requires a running workflow belonging to the requested thread, the supported origin and driver, matching provider-thread ownership and provider instance, and a native task ID. The adapter also requires a matching live query and rejects tasks inherited from an earlier process. A 15-second timeout bounds the provider request while holding the lock.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • observed — A successful provider Stop request is not treated as immediate terminal completion. The inspected test keeps the coordinator running until a stopped notification, then expects coordinator and member cancellation. Query-exit handling also contains workflow finalization logic. This supports asynchronous cleanup behavior but does not establish durable recovery after server process loss or deduplication of concurrent Stop requests.

The native workflow UI is still unverified. Please add before/after screenshots and a short recording showing phase expansion, member navigation, Stop/Cancel, and access after a later turn, with the tested platform and results. The focused tests and bundle exports don't cover these interactions required by the verification guide.

🟡 Minor · Reset workflow progress when the continuation runId changes. · ThreadAgentsSheet.tsx:87-115

apps/mobile/src/features/threads/ThreadAgentsSheet.tsx:87-115
🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Reset workflow progress when the continuation runId changes.

Claude reuses the coordinator ID for continuation runs, but mergeClaudeWorkflowProgress seeds its phase and agent maps from previous without comparing run IDs. The mobile sheet then renders that coordinator's ThreadWorkflowGroup, including every retained phase and member. A new execution can show stale status, elapsed time, results, and navigation entries from the previous execution.

Reset only the phase and member progress at a run boundary. Preserve retention for later sparse frames within the same run.

Native verification is still blocked on this host. I checked T3 Device again: no device hosts or devices are available; iOS requires macOS/Xcode, and Android has no SDK/emulator. The mobile test skill requires stopping verification when its device is unavailable.

The PR remains unverified for phase expansion, member navigation, Stop/Cancel, and access after a later turn. I cannot supply real before/after screenshots or a recording here. The 40 focused tests, scoped checks, and iOS/Android JavaScript exports passed; these do not prove the native interactions.

The count finding is fixed in 08bea6c and its regression test passes. I am stopping the requested one-round watcher; native device evidence and human review are still needed.

🟡 Minor · Add the dispatchCommand client scope. · SubagentStopButton.tsx:18-39

apps/mobile/src/features/threads/SubagentStopButton.tsx:18-39
🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Add the dispatchCommand client scope.

When a normal-agent target is present, SubagentStopButton checks dispatchCommand.permissionAtom. Because dispatchCommand is missing from CLIENT_GUARDED_RPC_SCOPES, that atom returns true without checking the session. Users without orchestration:operate can see the Stop button, but the server rejects the interrupt request.
