Agents can't size or screenshot the Browser panel when the app window is
zoomed. At 120% View > Zoom, preview_resize to 519x762 renders the page at
623x915, so it times out ("viewport ... was not rendered") and rolls back,
and screenshots show the page at the wrong width.
The panel sized the webview in app CSS pixels, so window zoom leaked into
the page's viewport. The desktop bridge now reports the window's zoom
factor, and the panel, device toolbar, agent cursor and floating mini
player divide it out. Pages get exactly the viewport that was asked for.
ApprovabilityVerdict: Approved at Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — This is a focused browser-preview bug fix that compensates for app-window zoom while preserving the preview tab’s own zoom behavior. The new scale calculation is localized, backward-compatible for web and older desktop bridges, and covered by targeted tests. You can add or adjust custom eligibility rules. Learn more. |

Closing as a duplicate of #14039. I've shared the verified test-setup fix, zoom-update coverage suggestion, and additional desktop measurements there. |
If T3 Code is zoomed in or out (View > Zoom, Ctrl+= / Ctrl+-), the Browser panel gives pages the wrong viewport. Ask for 519×762 at 120% and the page gets 623×915. Now the page gets exactly the size that was asked for, at any app zoom.
Why
Agents can't size or screenshot the Browser panel while the app is zoomed.
preview_resizetimes out. It waits for the page to reach the requested size, which never happens, so the agent gets "Preview viewport … was not rendered within …ms" and the viewport rolls back.Measured in the dev desktop app: the page's
innerWidth × innerHeightwith a fixed 519×762 viewport, while stepping the real View menu zoom. The 763 at 100% happens on
maintoo. It's a 1px rounding that the readiness check already allows. What Changed
Fixed viewports (device toolbar, presets,
preview_resize) now always give the page exactly the requested size, whatever the app zoom. App zoom still leaves the previewed page's own zoom alone, as #6649 intended, and the Browser panel's own zoom control works as before.UI Changes
None at 100% app zoom. When the app is zoomed, the page keeps its requested size. If it no longer fits the panel, it scales down to fit like any oversized viewport. The change is in the page's pixel dimensions rather than anything a screenshot of the panel would show, so the table above is the before/after.
Checklist
How it broke
Two earlier PRs stopped agreeing:
<webview>element: "the Electron host converts CSS-pixel targets to rendered element bounds using the tab's current zoom factor". At the time, the page inherited the app's zoom, so the tab's zoom already included it.OS display scaling is not involved: it scales the app and the page equally.
Implementation
Start with
apps/web/src/browser/usePreviewPageScale.tsand its test. They hold the whole idea: page scale = tab zoom ÷ app zoom. The rest of the diff swaps that value in where the raw tab zoom was used.DesktopBridge.getZoomFactorexposes the window'swebFramezoom. It's optional like its sibling bridge methods.usePreviewPageScalere-reads the app zoom onresize, since a zoom step always changes the window's CSS viewport. The preload already tracks the macOS window-controls inset the same way.Not changed:
Testing
vp test run src/components/preview src/browserinapps/web(332 passing). The newusePreviewPageScale.test.tscovers zoomed in, zoomed out, tab zoom stacking and invalid zoom values.packages/contracts,apps/web,apps/desktop. No new lint warnings.Only tested on Linux (Omarchy / Hyprland, Wayland). Not tested on macOS or Windows. The zoom factor comes from Electron's
webFrame, which behaves the same on every platform, but I haven't run it there.Made with Claude Opus 5.5 in Claude Code, driven from T3 Code.
