@melissamonk-NOAA I have a note about removing any quillback in southern California because some CCFRP testing found all quillback were mis-identified. While I dont doubt that for CCFRP, I am hesitant to outright remove them from other sources, because those may or may not be mis-identified here.
I looked into the datasets we have and
RecFIN has 1 catch record in 2012 of 0.2846 mt in the southern district, and 4 length measurements, all from 2012.
MRFSS has 1 catch record in 1985 of 0.045 mt in hte southern sub_region, and 7 length measurements - 1 from 1985 and 6 from 1989. The six in 1989 dont have a county entered so may not actually be a southern CA county.
pacfin has 2 catch records, one in 2003 of 0.0077 mt in the LAA port group, and one in 2014 of 0.0023 mt in the SBR port group. There are no length measurements.
Altogether these represent small amounts and I plan to keep them in. Excluding them seems like more effort in explaining and Id prefer these be confirmed and corrected if need be in PacFIN/RecFIN as opposed to individual STAT determinations. Are you ok with this?
