Code Review
This pull request introduces a new validation script, scripts/check-retry-payload-fields.sh, along with corresponding unit tests in tests/test_retry_payload_fields.bats and documentation in AGENTS.md. The script ensures that any client_payload fields dispatched by the dev-lead retry sweep are recognized and read by the pinned channel's intent parser. Feedback on the implementation highlights several edge-case limitations in the awk-based block parser—such as handling commas or brackets inside string values, single-quoted keys, and commented-out lines—and provides a robust suggestion to track string literals and ignore comments.

Automated activity budget exhausted — human attention neededThis PR has reached 10 automated actions (agent commits + review cycles + acks) since the last human interaction, without converging. To prevent a runaway loop (see #926 / the #860 post-mortem), all automated commits, reviews, and acknowledgements on this PR are now paused, auto-merge is disabled, and Re-engaging is human-gated. A human reviewing, commenting, or pushing to this PR resets the budget; a machine action will not. Removing |

Review — fix requested (cycle 1/3)The automated review identified the following issues. Please address each one: Findings to fixAutomated review — NEEDS HUMAN REVIEWRisk: MEDIUM SummaryBoth reviewers rate risk MEDIUM, but they split on the decision: deep escalates and the rubber duck approves. Both engines converged on the parser counting client_payload. mentions in comments, which gives a false pass. The deep reviewer also found that the author's replies cite a fix commit (f634693) that does not exist on the remote, so all 13 threads are still unresolved and the claimed fixes are not in the head. The rubber duck added no unique findings beyond the shared parser-fragility and enforcement concerns. Cross-engine agreementpartial Findings

Both CodeAnt findings (quoted braces ending the payload scan early; commented-out parser getters counted as reads) are fixed in scripts/check-retry-payload-fields.sh by string/comment-aware scanning and comment stripping, with new bats tests. |

…a parser lib sources #2085 review: - a dispatcher whose request carries no client_payload fields is a setup error, not silently skipped; - an endpoint held in a variable would hide its dispatcher from discovery, so it is a setup error; the header documents the two dispatcher conventions the check relies on (literal endpoint, one fixed field set per function); - the parser's sourced libs are walked recursively (with a visited set), so a read in a lib sourced by another lib counts. #2085 review: discovery keys on the word `dispatches` in a function body (and the global-variable guard on the same word), so an endpoint built in a dispatcher-local variable no longer hides its dispatcher. The real sweep's discovered set is unchanged (the same four dispatchers). #2085 review: `--field=client_payload[k]=v`, `--raw-field=…`, `-fk=v`/`-Fk=v` and `--input=<file>` are valid gh spellings; the stub now records them, so a field sent that way is compared like any other. #2085 review: pflag also accepts `-f=client_payload[k]=v`, which the attached-short arm recorded with a leading `=` and so dropped. The test now exercises -fk=v, -F=k=v and --input=<file> as well. …ng is a setup error #2085 review: - read side: only the jq path form `.client_payload.<key>` counts as a read, so prose in a string (an error message naming client_payload.x) cannot certify an ignored field. Every real parser read uses that form. - sent side: the sweep is sourced with errexit on and outside `||`, and a SOURCED sentinel must follow; a sweep that aborts partway (a missing lib) is a setup error instead of certifying an incomplete dispatcher set. Summary
This PR adds
scripts/check-retry-payload-fields.shand runs it as theretry-payload-fieldsjob inlint.yml. The check fails when the dev-lead retry sweep sends a top-levelclient_payloadfield thatscripts/dev-lead-intent.shdoes not read at some channel of the pinned major (dev-lead/v<N>-{next,ring0,ring1,stable}).Rework (68beeeb, at the maintainer's request). The first version scanned the scripts with text patterns, and that kept leaving gaps: comments counted as field reads, punctuation inside quoted values broke the parsing, and a failed tag fetch fell back to a stale local tag. The check now reads both sides structurally:
/dispatchesis executed withghstubbed to capture the request. The top-levelclient_payloadkeys are read from the captured JSON with jq. Both the--input -form and the-f/-F client_payload[key]=form are captured. A dispatcher that sends nothing for the probe call is exit 2, never a pass.declare -f. That drops comments and keeps strings verbatim. Then theclient_payload.<key>reads are collected.mainis merged in. The AGENTS.md conflict with #2083's rewrite of the same rule keeps main's text and adds a reference to the check.Problem
From #2081, the follow-up to #2050's AC2. When a sweep sends a field before the parser at a consumer's channel reads it, every dispatched run fails or misroutes. That happened in #2050, where
comment_node_idbroke every fix-bot-comment retry.Risk
Low. This is a new CI check plus its tests; runtime behaviour doesn't change. On today's
mainit passes: every channel of v139 reads every field the sweep sends.Test plan
tests/test_retry_payload_fields.bats: 13 tests, all passing.-fform, sourced libs, stale tag in CI, a dispatcher that sends nothing, an indirectly built payload.CI=true bash scripts/check-retry-payload-fields.shon the real repo printsOKagainstdev-lead/v139-{next,ring0,ring1,stable}.shellcheck --severity=warning scripts/*.sh scripts/lib/*.shandbash scripts/dev-lead-lint.sh: clean.Rollback
Revert this PR. There are no non-revertible side effects.
Monitoring
The
retry-payload-fieldsjob in Lint. A failure names the field, the dispatcher that sends it, and the channel whose parser doesn't read it.Closes #2081
