Closes #433

Updates the two undici lock entries that can be updated. undici is a transitive, development-only dependency of semantic-release and is only used by the release workflow (release-automated.yml, Node 22). The PR CI does not install npm dependencies.

Lock entry Required by From To
node_modules/@actions/http-client/node_modules/undici @semantic-release/npm → @actions/core → @actions/http-client 4.0.0 (^6.23.0) 6.27.0 6.29.1
node_modules/undici @semantic-release/github 12.0.6 (^7.0.0) 7.28.0 7.30.1

The copy bundled inside npm (node_modules/npm/node_modules/undici 6.27.0, used by npm's own node-gyp) ships inside the npm package tarball and cannot be changed through the lock file.

Breaking Changes

None

Code Changes Required

None. The upgrade is a drop-in replacement. Both target versions keep the Node requirements of the installed versions (7.x >=20.18.1, 6.x >=18.17), and the release workflow runs on Node 22.

@semantic-release/github uses undici's fetch for GitHub API requests and ProxyAgent only when a proxy is configured; @actions/http-client uses only ProxyAgent, also only with a proxy. None of the changed interceptor (cache, decompress, retry, dump), cookie, WebSocket or EventSource APIs are used. The changes not listed in the upstream release notes do not affect them either: neither parent uses undici interceptors, so the decompress maxSize default does not apply; fetch request headers are already validated by the Headers class; the ProxyAgent token set by @actions/http-client is a plain string; and the new eventSource option is opt-in.

Security Alerts

This resolves the open undici 7.x alerts (< 7.29.0 and < 7.29.1). The 6.x alerts for GHSA-m8rv-5g2x-5cg5, GHSA-8xcm-r25x-g524 and GHSA-v3r7-h72x-cjcm (< 6.28.0) are fixed for the @actions/http-client copy, but may stay open because of the copy bundled in npm 11.18.0, which can only be updated through a newer npm release.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Chores
    • Updated the versions of underlying network request components recorded in the project’s dependency lockfile. This is a maintenance-only change; no user-facing features, workflows, or behavior changes are included. The update does not alter exported or public interfaces, and there are no other product changes to report in this release.

🚀 Thanks for opening this pull request! We appreciate your effort in improving the project. Please let us know once your pull request is ready for review.

Tip

  • Keep pull requests small. Large PRs will be rejected. Break complex features into smaller, incremental PRs.
  • Use Test Driven Development. Write failing tests before implementing functionality. Ensure tests pass.
  • Group code into logical blocks. Add a short comment before each block to explain its purpose.
  • We offer conceptual guidance. Coding is up to you. PRs must be merge-ready for human review.
  • Our review focuses on concept, not quality. PRs with code issues will be rejected. Use an AI agent.
  • Human review time is precious. Avoid review ping-pong. Inspect and test your AI-generated code.

Note

Please respond to review comments from AI agents just like you would to comments from a human reviewer. Let the reviewer resolve their own comments, unless they have reviewed and accepted your commit, or agreed with your explanation for why the feedback was incorrect.

Caution

Pull requests must be written using an AI agent with human supervision. Pull requests written entirely by a human will likely be rejected, because of lower code quality, higher review effort and the higher risk of introducing bugs. Please note that AI review comments on this pull request alone do not satisfy this requirement. Our CI and AI review are safeguards, not development tools. If many issues are flagged, rethink your development approach. Invest more effort in planning and design rather than using review cycles to fix low-quality code.
