Inadvertently removed special treatment of
str
andint
senders when simplifiying code for 1.8. The test didn't catch it because the Python compiler does folding for12345 + 0
to make it the same instance as12345
so it was only testing one sender instance. Added some comments to explain the code so this doesn't happen in the future.
